ok I am a shorty 5" 3"..my shoe size went from 8 to 11 dbl wide I hev to buy special shoes...after surgery..I can get away with a 10.5 EE sometimes..USA sizes..thanks swampy this was a fun discussion...jon...your is the same as i was told...

I have been 5ft.6" for over 34 years! All of the females in my family are exactly the same height. What are the odds? My 21 yr old son is 5ft11", my 19yr old son is 6ft 4" and my 16yr old daughter is.... 5ft 6".

I'm 5'10". My 25 year old son is 6'5" and my 29 year old daughter is 5'11". My husband was 6'2", so I'm the short one in the family. But height runs in my family, although my sister is "normal" at 5'7". Since being diagnosed last Thursday, both my children have voluntarily decided to be checked. We think my dad may have had it. I know it's not familial, but it sure does look suspicious.

Here's my story.. I'm 6'1'' with a scoliosis..
If my back would be straight, i'd probably be 6'3''..When i stretch my back, i'm very close to 6'2'' but still have that curve that i can't straighten.. What is interesting, i'm the tallest in the family..Including relatives, cousins, uncles and aunts....We have very short people in the family and some of them are average height, like 5'10'' or so..

When i was 11 years old, i was very short little guy and got very tall in less than 2 years..Was that normal? don't know.. But acro symptoms started in my 20s..extreme sweating, muscle aches and oily skin, odors from sweating.. CoolCat

Yes JonDanzig is right. If you have acromegaly before you reach puberty you keep on growing and it is concerned giantism but when you get it when you are older like (most) every one on here your symptoms are different.Fun question Swampy I am 5'6", I do have a brother that is 6'4".Debbie

Chuck is 5'9". All of our kids are in the ten percentile for their height. I guess we are just a short family. I am 5'2" Chuck's shoe size also went up from a tiny size 8 to an average size 10. (This is as an adult)

I am 5'11.... Now that I am being treated my shoe size has gone back down to a womans 12. I have been wearing mens shoes for many many years.

Oddly enough, for a very long time I thought I was 5'2.5" but recently (since diagnosis), I was measured and remeasured when I was dumbfounded at being 5'3.5"... Shoe size went from narrow 7/7.5 to 9.5 regular width. I doubt that the inch is from this disease, as I was an adult whe the symptoms began. BTW, my daughter is only average (5'5") despite her father's 6'6" height!

I'm 5'7", which is above the average female height. I am much taller than my late parents, who were tiny and came from small families, and my sisters who are 5'2" and 5'4". One of my daughters is also a tiny 5'3" and the other is about an inch taller. Where does my height come from?

I'm a shorty too...just 5'4" but I make up for it with those signature big feet and hands. My ring size went from a size 6 to an 11 and my shoe size went from 6.5 to 10 WW. Since surgery, I've lost a full 1.5 ring size and now wear a size 9M shoe. I would much rather have gotten taller. Love these discussions.

5'11 and the tallest in my family by far, everyone used to ask where i got my height from. My Mother used to joke and say it must have come from the postman :-) unfortunately he was also quiet short so it didnt really explain it lol I'm 25 and dont know how long i've had this tumor but i'm unconvinced that it has anything to do with my height. Gone from a size 5 to wide 8 in shoes which is really frustrating cos i cant wear any of my old shoes, also finding boots is a nightmare as i cant tie up the zips and if i get a wide fit they are too wide for my thin calf. Hand are enormous too, had to get my engagement ring resized and jeweller wouldnt believe that it was actually my ring cos he had to go up so many sizes.

I'm 5' 11' and have very wide feet. I actually have quite short feet for my height (maybe a 7) but my foot width means I have to take a 9. Basically if I try a shoe and it fits I buy it as it almost never happens - boo! Would you believe I thought it was my pregnancies that widened my feet as my kids were both very big babies! My rings just won't come off now either.
