What drugs is he taking? My experience with multiple BP drugs is that they can make you dizzy and disoriented at times.

Has he ever had migraine? You don't need to have headaches to have migraines. (I have them with and without headaches but always with aura which can cause tunnel vision and plenty of disorientation, almost always with a left sided tingling sensation for me).

Only med right now is omeprozole for GERD.

Interesting about the migraines, he's had headaches in the past, but nothing he's described as a migraine. I'll look it up. I never knew you could have them without the pain.

this could have been an TIA as well ( transient ischemic attack, sometimes referred to as a mini-stroke).....Symptoms vary widely from person to person, depending on the area of the brain involved. The most frequent symptoms include temporary loss of vision (typically amaurosis fugax); difficulty speaking (aphasia); weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis); and numbness or tingling (paresthesia), usually on one side of the body. Impairment of consciousness is very uncommon. There have been cases of temporary and partial paralysis affecting the face and tongue of the afflicted. The symptoms of a TIA are short-lived and usually last a few seconds to a few minutes and most symptoms disappear within 60 minutes. Some individuals may have a lingering feeling that something odd happened to the body. Dizziness, lack of coordination or poor balance are also symptoms related to TIA. Symptoms vary in severity.

Hi Lifespalette, thanks for your reply. Were your TIA's something that they were able to clinically diagnose, or did they rule everything else out and suspect them? They were one of the things I was very concerned about, but the doctors in the hospital claim that there was no sign of a stroke. However, it had been a few hours since the last episode before I convinced him to go to the ER. I'm going to do some research to look into them further. Thanks again for your input.

So many people have migraines without knowing what they are, and end up worrying that something seriously is wrong. I have had them since around age 14, and only knew what they were as my mum has them. Now, unfortunately, at the age of 15 my son has started having them too.

As with anything, take medical advice -- these are all options, and there are probably many more!

..I had alot of this before drug..I had an allergy and also my bloodpressure was not good..Id faint ..I looked terrible and had a greyish twinge to face and a blueish twinge to lips..

A week or so ago I went to get out of the passenger's side of my car and had to sit back down to wait for my wife's return, as I was afraid I'd fall from dizziness. Now whether that relates or not, I can't say, though I feel pretty sure it's from the acromegaly, as I had not changed medications yet. I have visual difficulties, because when the tumor first appeared, it was pressuring the 6th optic nerve. I see double some and my eyes sometimes freeze briefly, crossed.

Hi John, I just wanted to respond to your comment about the headache. The left sided tingling, and no actual headache. Tunnel vision and lots of disorientation.. I get that plenty. I associate these feelings with over doing things.

Wesley, I have had migraines on and off since I was about 14. These days I tend to get less of the headache but the visual disturbances and associated disturbances (sometimes queasiness). The tunnel vision/zigzag patterns usually disappear after about 20-30 minutes but I can be left feeling rough for up to a couple of days afterwards. The tingling sensations are quite common with migraine, for me almost always on my left, they feel like I have slept funny on my left arm and leg (tingly left side of face too).

For me they are brought on by overdoing things, not enough sleep, dehydration, but mostly by triggers such as glaring light or by eating MSG.

People with migraine are at a slightly higher risk of stroke, but apparently this really only applies to women who smoke and take the contraceptive pill. I don't fit into any of those categories! http://www.migrainetrust.org/factsheet-stroke-and-migraine-10891

What meds for Acro is he currently taking? Has he had his iron level checked? Are his blood pressures low or normal?
I've had those same episodes. I never got it explored as to why I had them, I assumed it was from the meds I was on....and also once I started working on my iron levels they seemed to not be as bad.
Any of the samdostatin drugs and I seem to have this problem. I currently take Somavert, and haven't had any issues.

Have you noticed a relief of your acro symptoms being on Somavert? I am on Sandostatin 20 MG X 3 weeks. My Doctor has Somavert ready in case he needs to use it in the future as a combining tool with the Sandostatin.

Yes, aside from having to take the shot everyday. I would say I feel my best when on Somavert. I'm currently not taking anything as I am 22 weeks pregnant, and aside from a few bad days my Acro symptoms are at bay.
I was on one of the highest doses of Somavert and they wanted to add a sandostatin. And I chose to do gamma knife instead. So far so good with the gamma knife. Last check of my levels (prior to pregnancy) and I was in normal range, haven't been ever before, and that was while taking a lower dose of Somavert.

That is great news to hear. I am glad that everything is going well! I had Gamma Knife as well in Aug 12, last MRI the remainder did not shrink, but the Doctor thinks it could be scarred tissue, which is great!
