My face has definitely changed. There are pics in my profile. I didn't think my jaw had grown until just now, when I realized that the tooth that had always been crooked because of crowding is now straight! I really really hope treatment fixes my face (and my feet, and my hands, etc.) Also, did anyone else notice their ribcage enlarging?

The first change I can recall was my hands. I was at my thinnest point in ages and my hands seemed to be swelling a lot. A year later I noticed how large they were in a photo and couldn't fathom why. The next milestone was probably when my aunt asked, "What happened to your eyes?" followed by the changes in my feet becoming too dramatic too ignore...11WW. My mom and I joked that I should blame Zappos.com for the delay in diagnosis because if I hadn't been able to buy shoes at all someone would have had to pay attention. :-)

I have all the changes you've listed, and no noticeable changes since surgery. am waiting for second surgery since January, My endo wants it done but surgeon is not so keen. My left ribs stick out quiet a bit, only noticable in the last year, it looks awful, pokes out through my clothes so have to wear baggy things, cant wear bikini etc. showed one doctor and she sent me for x-ray agreeing that it wasnt normal but when results came back they said they saw no problem. When i showed the nurse that was giving me the results my ribs and asked her how they could say that was normal she told me to put on a bit of weight and i wouldnt even notice it GRrrrrrrrrrrr

Wow! I wish I would have read this discussion earlier. Makes me think there may be hope yet. My face has drastically changed. It used to be heart shaped. And because of my brow line getting bigger, people constantly think i look "grumpy". Like I'm in a bad mood. And I'm generally a happy go lucky smiley happy person. My jaw, oh that is a big issue for me. It's like one side of it has gotten bigger while the other side hasn't, I have a huge crossbite. When looking at me my face looks "crooked" and I'm not exagerating at all. Closing my mouth all the way is just not a natural thing to do anymore. My right side jaw joint is always getting stuck and popping. It's awful.

A year after surgery there is a noticeable difference in the size of my face, not quite as big and puffy looking, so has slimmed down a bit. My nose is not a wide and fleshy looking, my lips are not quite as pumped up, but were always quite full. My skin tone is not quite as greasy, but I am conscious if not wearing foundation, as my skin has quite large pores now. My fingers and toes don't look as 'pumped up' but there hasn't been any noticeable slimming down. Still wearing same rings and shoes. My wrists are still the same size.

From what I've read, bone growth rarely retracts, but soft tissue swelling should subside somewhat.

All in all, I'm quite happy with the reduction and if I can get this excess weight gain under control, there's probably more noticeable changes when I'm slimmer.

Six years ago my overbite that I did not have as a child became so severe that I had to have surgery. My right side popped in and out all the time. It has now returned to pre-surg and my right side sticks out further than the other. My nose is larger, my fingers are much longer. I have only grown an inch in height though. We know our bodies and I always had this odd feeling that my face was changing and I for sure knew that my teeth were not resting in the same place. I know that things could be worse and I am thankful for what I have...but its hard and this dx seems to be hard on us mentaly. I never look at my self and not think about it. I have to work at keeping my spirits up. The sad thing that I have come to realize is that I think so many other people suffer from this and have no idea. I know that I have spent several years with a very overall ill will feeling, with the past two much worse. Glad that we have figured it out. So many co-pays that I cant even count, so many tears and fears. I am thankful for my family, friends including all of you and good doctors!
