Hi all! It's been quite some time since I've posted. Currently I have active acro, and have several other auto immune issues that I'm resolving :) I recently found out that the Acromegaly was back, so started Somavert a week ago. Have few side effects but the typical.
But down to brass tax... awhile back there was some discussion about methyohenidate (ritalin) and other central nervous system stimulants specifically being helpful for acromegaly patients. I brought some research as well as information from other patients I collected who had embarked on this journey of trying this medicine to counter the tiredness and brain fog, etc that comes along with acro (regardless of being on medication). I see one of the top Psychiatrists in the west and after her spending time and doing her own research, we decided to give it a shot. I must say - I do most things with homeopathy aside from brain meds, and have always been against medicating ADD with Ritalin esp. in children my entire life.
Sleeping almost all the time, and being able to do very little because of fatigue itself causes depression. The fatigue I have is so extreme - not to mention the brain fog and short term memory loss I battle with a smile on my face daily (like many of you). I started on a small dose of this medication and have gradually increased. What I have experienced has been such an incredible alteration in both increased physical and mental energy. I feel more like my old self, and find myself "activated" so to speak. I haven't had any side effects other than if taken too late it's very difficult to sleep. I'm also noticing a significant increase in the level of joy I have in my life.
If anyone else is considering this, or has gotten sick of the extreme physical and mental fatigue that comes with this lovely disease - I say go for it. It may be difficult to find a doctor that will support this - but again, this is almost somewhat of a phenomenon from what I understand in people with Acromegaly aside from those with ADD. So, I decided to reach out and write this to encourage others - there is something that works, after trying everything else for energy. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

I have been taking the methylphenidate on and off a bit but always seems like I need more. But definitely don't like it if you've had too much and feel restless yet I get so focused as I was recently diagnosed with ADD after completing a several page questionnaire from my therapist. I had no idea that I really was since the surgery until I saw so many of the questions common of that. Also ADD is recently being tied to adults who are overweight almost always having it, odd huh? Best to all of you and will see what I can dig up research wise for you all. Let's all compile what we've got so we can help eachother have the best outcome!
