Recommendations for adult acne?

Hello, I'm new to this group, but I've been suffering with severe acne since I was 12, and I'm 38 now. As I've become older the acne has changed slightly, mostly in location. I now get it on my neck a lot more than I ever used to. But overall the degree of severity has rarely changed. I have tried every over the counter treatment I can find, but have had no success. I also try to eat really healthy and drink only water. I've also tried prescription retinol cream, but it seems too harsh. It is so embarrassing! I never thought I'd still have acne at this age. If I don't wear cover up when I go out people look at me like I'm a meth addict. I am a teacher and my teenage students have better skin than I do. I tend to choose dark bars to eat lunch in when I meet with friends if I have a choice, and some days I don't even want to go out. I've even called into work a couple times over the years when it's been at its worst. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm desperate!

I just update my post on my own journey to healing acne. Please take a look in the forum. I too had acne for many years (well into adulthood) and I know what its like to skip out on social events or work because of it, The past year I decided to do more research/test different skin care routines and by understanding what was causing my acne (this was a major key to healing) I was able to find a skin care routine that cleared up my skin. Glad you found yourself and what works for you. I've also started on this journey in late May. It took a bit to get acquainted with what all the products and ingredients do. Research is key in this domain, cause it's just a pity to put all kinds of gunk on your face. One of the things that seem to be overlooked, at least that's my impression on it, is the different equipments and machines that can help with acne and skin care in general. I've just found an electronic accupuncture device on here https://www.jadmon.com/ and I can swear by it. Do you use anything similar? Most of the articles I find tend to skip talking about this part of skin care.

I know this is late but try Aztec Indian Healing Clay you can use water or raw apple cider vinegar I actually prefer the apple vinegar.

I really sympathize with you! try creams from AENO https://aenoacne.com/ , their products helped me. I have used these cystic treatment creams for the last year in my skincare routine. I’m 28 and still struggle with acne. Their patches have not “cured” my acne but definitely accelerate the healing process of any breakouts. Daily I wash with a basic soap while exfoliating with a charcoal scrub. I then use cystic acne remover cream and then moisturizer. Seems like a lot but I swear my skin is the best it has been in my twenties. I also invested in a at-home blackhead/Microderm vacuum that I use weekly to help minimize pours and acne scars.
