I myself tend to try and use my conscience as my guide. This doesn't mean I am not a person of faith, because I am. What it means is that I understand what free will means and how dangerous it can be to submerge so far into it that I can no longer connect with my faith. I risk becoming too absorbed in earthly pleasures.

Personally, I just don't feel in my own inner guide of right and wrong, that masturbation is a sin. But that's not to say that it may not be in other's views.

I don't know if you should seek these kinds of answers from an anonymous support group of varying religions, questionable sincerity, and reasons for their choices of abstinence. This answer has to come from you and your own prayer. And maybe even your clergyman.

I am a Christian. There is no where in the bible that states masturbation is wrong. This is healthy and a normal reaction. I am 28 and waiting. I think the key is to not get obsessive with it. But the bible does not talk about this as being a sin. As far as sex goes the bible talks about fornication and adultery being sinful. It also talks about when a married man sees a woman and lusts for her that he has sinned in his heart. So naturally as a Christian it is normal to have desires and have thoughts that would pertain to fantasies that lead to masturbation. However, if this was a sin it would have been talked about. There is also a scripture in Genesis that talks about a gentlemen emitting himself. I know that some Christians use that as a means to describe sperm is sacred. However, I do believe that when Ham was messing with Abraham in the tent it may have been sexual although not discussed. I feel it was implied. Also Paul in the Corinthians talks about those that cannot remain celibate as he did should find a partner. It is the people who have interpreted the bible and assume that masturbation is wrong. God knows that are flesh is weak. Its important to remember we are sinners. God knows all of our hearts. Its natural to feel guilty but its safer then actual sex and its also important that you keep in mind that the bible states fornication and adultery is sin. I would pray to God and ask him for guidance and ask that he bring your wife not just for gratification but for the benefits of having a wife.

Hey Kevin; it isn't a sin. Lady is right. Research it if it eases your conscience. All of these urges are natural. Personally, I feel masturbation helps to maintain self control. And its a good release of endorphins which helps the body to cope with stress. God made us this way and it doesn't make any sense to me why God would make us this way, give us the desire to experience a pleasure that has so many health benefits and then say that we can't self pleasure as a means of self control but also as a release of stress. Theres no logic to that thought process even though some churches teach it. Personally I say follow your heart meaning your values that you have at your core. Not imposed values that you have been tought but dont agree with or that have no logic to them. Just my take on it :)

So if I do masturbate, then why the guilt if its something only for men to participate in. This is why I am confused.

Why do you think that only men participate in masturbation? I haven't heard that in years. You need to read a little more or something. Women also masturbate. They just don't talk about it,my friend. Women have thoughts and feelings,just like men. It isn't wrong or sinful. It's just a fact of nature. If you are waiting for marriage,what else is there to do? You are normal.
