How many meetings is enough? I had been going about once a week, and that seemed to keep my life normal but when I started stretching it to 2, then 3 weeks or more, I would tend to slide into a state of flux. . Then I would start going to weekly meetings again, and I would be ok.
When I first left treatment, I was told 90 meetings in 90 days. That was a little too much for me but I get why we were told that. The constant exposure to whatever helping spirit is in those rooms is quite powerful!
Any comments would be appreciated.
God Bless!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

For me personally, it was a meeting a day for the first 18 months or so. In the past year + I've gone to 3-5 meetings a week. I feel best when I go to 3 or 4. My rule of thumb is that I go to my home group if I don't have something else planned, no matter what. It meets 5 days a week ...so I tend to make it 2x or so now. I secretary the Monday so I'm always there for that to open up, etc.
That service commitment was instilled into me in my first few meetings with my sponsor. We have a strong lineage of service so having a service position always...has been key to my sobriety. More so than the number of meetings actually. I sponsor, I am sponsored, and I have a service commitment. I do something for my sobriety every day...a meeting; a call to another alcoholic; I do a daily 10th step every day, and I read a page from the grapevine quotes book. So that's my program. More about the principals in all my affairs...than the number of meetings.
But the meetings are KEY to me as they remind me of all of that...and of my alcoholic mind.
Funny you should mention the 10th step. I have been working on that for the past few days!
I see how that works!
