The times, they sure are a-changing! Things sometimes seem to be moving fast in our world. Remember when young people had chaperones on dates? Remember when sex was for married couples, and still connected with making children? Remember when most families had a father who was the primary income provider and a mother who was the primary child rearer? Remember when single parents were almost unheard of?

Do you remember when long-distance calls cost more than local calls and people had phones that were connected by wires instead of having cell phones that they carry with them everywhere? Personal computers and the internet have already done away with many things and will soon do away with more things, such as public libraries, mail and the postal service, books, movie theaters, anything printed on paper, newspapers, magazines, music on vinyl records and compact discs, and many other things too numerous to mention.

Do you remember a time when parents could send their children out to play around the neighborhood unsupervised for the whole day, and it was safe for them to do so, because bad people who would hurt children were sent to prison and stayed there? Remember when people considered it a matter of personal pride to not accept handouts from the government? Remember when people were called 'citizens' rather than consumers or constituents? Remember when public parks were safe places for families, and not hangouts for drug dealers, bums, and sex criminals? Remember when people were charged a fair price for things, and not charged the highest price that the market will bear?
