A Laughter Club Community Group
We would like to invite you to join our group! A Laughter Club is for people who understand just how serious a matter humor is to one's survival and even to one's success in life. We share jokes, riddles, short stories, and other laughter-provoking thoughts. We have one simple rule: If you wouldn't say it to a child because it contains inappropriate...
I'd like to make more mistakes next time. I'd relax. I'd limber up. I'd be sillier than I've been this trip. I'd take fewer things seriously. I'd take more chances. I'd climb more mountains and swim more rivers. I'd eat more ice cream, and less beans. I'd perhaps have more actual troubles, but fewer imaginary ones.
You see, I'm one of those people who live sensibly and sanely, hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I've had my moments, and if I had it to do over again, I'd have more of them. In fact, I'd try to have nothing else. Just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day. I've been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat, and a parachute. If I had to do again, I'd travel lighter.
If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the Spring and stay that way later in the Fall. I'd go to more dances. I'd ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies.
-Nadine Stair
Figure it out for yourself, my lad,
You've all that the greatest of men have had,
Two arms, two hands, two legs, two eyes,
And a brain to use if you would be wise.
With this equipment they all began,
So start for the top and say, "I can."
Look them over, the wise and great,
They take their food from a common plate,
And similar knives and forks they use,
With similar laces they tie their shoes,
The world considers them brave and smart,
But you've all they had when they made their start.
You can triumph and come to skill,
You can be great if only you will.
You're well equipped for what fight you choose,
You have legs and arms, and a brain to use,
And the man who has risen great deeds to do
Began his life with no more than you.
You are the handicap you must face,
You are the one who must choose your place,
You must say where you want to go,
How much you will study the truth to know.
God has equipped you for life, but He
Lets you decide what you want to be.
Courage must come from the soul within,
The man must furnish the will to win.
So figure it out for yourself, my lad.
You were born with all that the great have had,
With your equipment they all began.
Get hold of yourself, and say: "I can."

Not only lads, but lasses also, should heed the words of Edgar A. Guest.
Rely on His promises
Wait for His answers
Believe in His miracles
Rejoice in His goodness
Relax in His presence
Come near to God and He will come near to you James4:8
Amazing; acknowledge them
Believable; trust them
Childlike; allow them
Divine; honour them
Energetic, nourish them
Falliable, embrace them
Gifts, treasure them
Here Now, be with them
Innocent, delight with them
Joyful, appreciate them
Kindhearted, learn from them
Loveable, cherish them
Magical, fly with them
Noble, esteem them
Openminded, respect them
Precious, value them
Questions, encourage them
Resourceful, support them
Spontaneous, enjoy them
Talented, believe in them
Unique, affirm them
Vulnerable, protect them
Whole, recognize them
Xtraspecial, celebrate them
Yearning, notice them
Zany, laugh with them.
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
-Rudyard Kipling

That's for roughly half of all of you, and to put variance to the last line, here it is for the other roughly half of all of you:
And - which is more - you'll be a Woman, my daughter!

1. Keep skid chains on your tongue. Always say less than you think. Cultivate a low, persuasive voice. How you say it often counts more than what you say.
2. Make promises sparingly and keep them faithfully, no matter what the cost.
3. Never let an opportunity pass to say a kind and encouraging word to or about somebody. Praise good work, regardless of who did it.
4. Be interested in others: their pursuits, their work, their homes, and their families. Make merry with those who rejoice; with those who weep, mourn. Let everyone you meet, however humble, feel that you regard him or her as a person of importance.
5. Be cheerful. Don't burden or depress those around you by dwelling on your aches and pains and small disappointments. Remember, everyone is carrying some kind of burden.
6. Keep an open mind. Discuss but don't argue. It is a mark of a superior mind to be able to disagree without being disagreeable.
7. Let what virtues you have speak for themselves. Refuse to talk about the vices of others. Discourage gossip. It is a waste of valuable time and can be destructive and hurtful.
8. Take into consideration the feelings of others. Wit and humor at the expense of others is never worth the pain that may be inflicted.
9. Pay no attention to ill-natured remarks about you. Remember, the person who carried the message may not be the most accurate reporter in the world.
10. Don't be anxious about the credit due you. Do your best and be patient. Forget about yourself and let others "remember." Success is much sweeter that way.
-Ann Landers
To realize the value of one year,
Ask a student who failed a grade.
To realize the value of one month,
Ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.
To realize the value of one week,
Ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of one day,
Ask a construction contractor with a deadline.
To realize the value of one minute,
Ask a person who missed a train.
To realize the value of one second,
Ask a person who just avoided an accident.
To realize the value of one millisecond,
Ask a person who won the silver medal in the Olympics.

Affirmations are expressions that have the power to transform your life by influencing the way you think about yourself, others, and the world around you. When you change how you think, you change how you act, and the results can be immensely rewarding.
Select from below the affirmation which you feel most applies to you. Write it down on a piece of paper and place it where you will be sure to read it at least once each day, for example, on your car dashboard, on your refrigerator door, or on your bathroom mirror.
-I can live my life without knowing all of the answers.
-The ghosts of my past can no longer haunt me.
-The best revenge is living well.
-I forgive my mother and father.
-I welcome your new ideas and feedback.
-I love myself, I let go, and I am reaching out.
-I am able to relax and maintain good form when around strangers or in unfamiliar situations.
-I talk about myself in the most self-enhancing way possible.
-I acknowledge the participation and contributions of others.
-I am worthy of the respect, attention, and love that I receive from others.
-I do the things which get me recognition and positive strokes.
-You are bright and capable of success in any endeavor which you may choose.
-I can learn how to live with pain so that I can get what I want from my life.
Probably the best affirmations are the ones you create for yourself. Affirmations can be one part of your plan for recovery or growth, along with whatever else works well for you, be it prayer, self-talk, visualization, therapy, counseling, music, relaxation techniques, writing, art, support groups, physical exercise, community involvement, volunteering, school, goal setting, improving your appearance, beginning new relationships, finding a job you enjoy doing,...It's all out there waiting for you - what are you waiting for?
