About Me
Safwan Abdulrahman Taha graduated from Basrah College of Medicine, IRAQ, in 1983 with honors and became Professor of Surgery, with distinction, in 2000 and then founding Dean of Thi-Qar College of medicine, URAQ, in 2003. He holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Glasgow, Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons, Specialization Diploma in laparoscopic Surgery from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg; France, and the Certificate of the Arab Board of Surgery. Prof. Taha was the first surgeon to win the prestigious “Travelling Fellowship Award” of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) twice in 2006 and 2007 and was a founding member of the Emirates Obesity Surgery Interest Group, currently the Emirates Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ESMBS).
