I have been in a nasty cycle with my weight. As soon as I start losing weight I do something stupid and gain it back. I need to get myself together. Sorry I haven't been writing.. sometimes all I can do is check my email and respond to posts. I just haven't been feeling well. I did have a nice time at the volunteer luncheon... the orientation started at 9 am and then we had lunch at noon. It wasn't fun, but I had to do it. Other than that, Geo has managed to gain another 10 pounds. I don't know if the surgeons will operate on him if he's not showing effort on losing weight. He has to go on a shake diet for 3 weeks before the surgery and it's $300 for them. Then at the same time I'm going to go on a protein shake diet. I already got it cleared from my doctor. This way we can help each other, and there doesn't need to be food in the house. I'm not looking forward to it, but it helps both of us to lose weight

It is so very nice of you to go on a shake diet at the same as Geo. I cross my fingers for you both. You will make it.
We all know weight cycles way too well. But don\'t forget, you are good at losing so I am sure you will get back on the right track. In fact you are one of the reasons I haven\'t given up on my goal-weight yet. :)
could geo have a consult with the doctor and talk about the surgery and have the doctor evaluate whether he will qualify for the surgery before investing the 300$ which I know is a lot of money. it is not that I don\'t want geo to have the surgery, get healthy, but it doesn\'t appear he is understanding what all of it really means and the seriousness of it. I hope it all works out for him, I know how much you worry and how hard you have worked on this. going on the protein shake diet along with geo is so nice of you and I am relieved you got clearance first. when you say you haven\'t been feeling well is it physical or emotional? it is so frustrating the weight issue and we all go though it no matter what eating disorder we have, it just is so hard. however you have been so good at getting up, dusting off and starting again, you inspire many. this cycle will end, you can do it! hugss
I am sure the stress of not knowing whether Geo will get the surgery and how he should be preparing for it is overwhelming and hence the turning to food. I think Ann had a very good suggestion regarding talking with the doctor before buying the shakes. I hope all turns out well.
I agree with Ann about seeing the dr before you buy the shakes too.
I\'m glad you went to the dr to check if you can go on a shake diet too. It\'s great if you can help each other out.
I understand it can be hard to write journals sometimes. Just keep in mind what you need to do for yourself. write when you can.
my friend\'s daughter had this kind of surgery and it did work. she had it to have a baby because she couldn\'t conceive because she was so fat. then after she got thin from the surgery she decided she didn\'t want to have any kids. it is healthier to be thinner. i hope it all works out for him.
