Yowza! How Is THAT Meant To Help My Relationship!!

So Joey agreed to see a counseller a while back. I'm not sure if it was just said to shut me up or if he want's to actually go.  But I've been attempting to figure out how to get us to one, and then once I have an appointment made tell him....and then see what happens.

But the other day I finally found one in our city with an email address so I emailed asking how much it cost and how long the wait time is to get in.  ITS 180 BUCKS FOR LESS THEN AN HOUR!! How the HELL is that meant to help?  Most couples biggest issue is over money, so lets make them pay a ridiculous amount of cash to see a shrink so there is a GARUNTEED rift in the couple.  I mean, even if we could afford it, me spending that much money would for sure raise tensions.
So now I'm back at square one.  We NEED something, and I though an impartial third person would do us wonders.  But not at the cost of a kidney on the black market.  I don't know where to go from here.  I'm attempting to find another avenue to a counseller for cheaper....I'm going to get my mum to ask the social services counseller she works with if there is a program we could apply for lol.

Ugh, just needed to vent.  I couldn't believe the astronomical amount!!

There is some counseling available through state resources... maybe do a web search for your state and see. If you are a certain income I know in PA they offer discounted counseling to people. Does your husband\'s work offer any benefits - sometimes workplaces have counseling hotlines that will help you out - often times a first appointment is free or discounted. Another problem is justifying getting a baby sitter when going to counseling.... that costs a fortune too...

I\'m in Canada :( And while we apparentley have great heatlh care there is much lacking in mental welfare. There are subsidies for individual counselling but nothing for couples. Babysitter wouldn\'t be too bad, we have family here. Joeys mum doesnt work so she is pretty much always available, and my mum is in school but is done by 2pm everyday. Plus I have two teenage neices, he has a sister who also doesn\'t work....alot of free options. I have some ins with family services from back when we fostered a child, so I\'m trying to find out if maybe there is a program that will help that maybe isn\'t well known to the general public.

hello JOLENE, I HAVE A DAUGHTER OLDER THWN YOU, AND LOTS OF EXPERIENCE, IN THE OLD DAYS, WE TALKED TO EACH OHTER, SHARED, NOW PEOPLE GO TO A TOTAL STRANGER TO TALK AND SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS, AND THEY MAKE MONEY OUT OF OTHERS MISERY, I SAY TO YOU, SIT DOWN AND HAVE A HONEST TALK, TELL HIM HOW YOU FEEL, MAKE A LIST OF WHATS BOTHERING YOU, WHAT MAKES YOU SAD, UNHAPPY AND SO ON ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP, EMOTIONALLY, PHYSYCALLY, AND SPIRITUALLY, IS THERE AN EMPTY SPOT, WHY? YOU ALREADY HAVE THE ANSWERS, I HAVE SEEN LIVES RUINED BY PHYSCHIATRIST AND COUNSELLORS, YOU NEED SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST AND TALK, TALK, LET IT OUT, I HAD NO ONE SO I TALKED TO \'GOD\'\', ALL THE TIME, DIDN\'T TRUST ANYONE, WAS BETRAYED TOO MANY TIMES, CONFRONT WHAT GOING WRONG IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP, AND WEIGHT THE GOOD AND BAD, AND TELL HIM, ITS YOUR RELATIONSHIP AND NO ONE CAN TELL YOU WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO FEEL, I BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE SUCH A WONDERFUL AND GOODHEARTED SOUL, AND ITS HARD FOR OTHERS TO APPRECIATE YOUR LOVINGKINDNESS, I SEE MYSELF , DON\'T LET ANYONE SPOIL IT, AS FOR YOUR SISTER, BE LOVING, LOOK IF SOMEONE NEEDS CONDEMNATION ITS YOUR MOTHER, CHILDREN GROW UP LOOKING AT THE PARENTS, LOVE HER AND BE THERE FOR HER, FIND SOME CHRISTIANS THAT HELP DRUG ADDICTS, AND TELL THEM WHERE TO FIND HER, I SO HOPE THAT YOU WILL FIND WHAT YOU NEED, LOVE LUCY**

Im an athiest, so I don\'t talk to God. I have seen counsellers before, and never had an issue with them destroying anything :). They can only destroy what you ALLOW them too. We do talk, all the time. But it often helps to have an outside opinion. Back in the day people used to avoid help and instead stay in a loveless, miserable relationship. Now it is more accepted and people try to save what they have in any way they can. Thanks for your support :)

Oh, plus, I would NEVER condemn my mum! She has 4 kids, my sister is the only mess of it all. My father died when I was 7 unexpectedly and my mother worked multiple jobs to give us a roof and went days without food to ensure we didn\'t starve, often sleeping on couches or floors so we could have beds for ourselves. Every Sunday we spent hours making the BIGGEST meal of spaghetti and sauce and everyone who needed a hot meal was welcome, who needed some companion ship, I grew up sharing what little we had with those who had less and I\'m grateful for it. She is one of the most amazing people I know. When I was 8 she began attending AA and gave up alcohol 100%, and she doesn\'t do drugs. She is also immersing herself in a new faith and trying to better herself. :)
