you can't take it with you

Today is a good day...Easter Sunday for the Western tradition...

I celebrate both Western and Orthodox Easter..

Today no one in my family is around but my brother and sister (and niece)

called me.. which was very, very, nice...

I had a glimpse of wanting things outside of what I normally wanted today.

My folks aren't home so it's just me filling the time...

My budget is super tight this week and I may be forced to use my credit

cards at some point if I want an extra treat, that is.. until Thursday (payday).

But I have to remind myself as I did this morning

on a drive to church..I have to think about maybe to 'be happy with what I got'...to 'want what I've got.'.

So as I drove across town only to find that the church parking lot was full, I drove home

and reconciled myself to making another pot of coffee for myself rather than stopping at Emil's

and charging a decadent piece of cake or pastry. I feel better that I've chose the coffee.

I don't need the extra sweets and likewise I feel more virtuous for having decided to go for something

I do have in the house and that I'm not charging up my credit cards. Things are good.

It's going to be a super quiet day. I may go to the gym or just enjoy Blue's company

or maybe both! It's weird how life seems to be just moments. I'll get a glimpse of

something and it will quickly fade. Maybe those moments are here just to be managed

though they (for me) are so fleeting that I have been left with bewilderment rather than insight

and derailed at times.

Maybe the whole thought of 'being happy with what I've got' is just another way I can look

at a situation from where I feel the desire and irepressible urge for things...and yet then

also knowing I can't afford them.... So I might as well 'flip the coin around' and find a way

to be happy with what I do in place of it. I hope that I'll remember this or maybe one of you

guys will give me a nudge about it if I ever start to whine. I feel like this is a good post.

Anyways "Happy Easter!!" and "Happy Palm Sunday" (Orthodox!)

peace and bunny hops!

It certainly is the truth that I am forever wanting more but need that be happy with and or remind myself that be grateful for what I have. It’s a mix.
