Writing

It's been two years since I've written anything.  In fact, the last time was on this site.  Anyhow, I'm not a professional writer, but there was a time when I thought of pursuing such a career.  All my life I'd been told by  teachers that I had a talent, but it wasn't one I was interested in.  Instead, I went into computers.  Bad choice because I was bored stiff.
Anyhow, back to writing.  About six years ago after I'd dropped out of my new career, I found myself at home with nothing to do.  I was looking for a job, but no luck.  It was my husband who said, why not write.  And I thought, I have nothing else to do, so why not?
It was about that time that one of my favorite TV shows ended up canceled.  So I typed the name of the show and found a genre called fanfiction.  This genre is all about shows that's been canceled with a big fan following.  Said fans continue the stories of their favorite characters.  The studios turn a blind eye to it as they reap the awards of the characters that never die.  I ended up reading some of these and started writing.  I had a ball, publishing online, then getting fan letters from all over the world.  What a blast.  Then my husband passed and I lost all interest.  I just stopped writing.
That all changed yesterday.  I'd been working, when all of a sudden a story started going through my head.  I came home and started writing.  Can't say that I'll put it out there on the internet, but it felt good to be back.  Writing is a way of getting rid of stress, of moving somewhere outside yourself.  I love it.  I don't know if I'll ever go professional, but who knows?  Maybe I'll be like one of my favorite TV characters, Jessica Fletcher and start my own career writing.

Why not? if you enjoy writing you should write and publish an e-book. You never know where this new interest may take you. Don\'t be afraid to try new things, one of those new things you try may lead you to a new passion in life. Hugs! Connie

Why not pursue what you love. After the love of your life died, this is a good way to vent out your feelings etc. It was cathartic for me when I separated and got divorced from my first husband. I never thought to write when I lost my 2nd husband Smokey through death. It would have be cathartic for me as well. I love to write letters and put my feelings down on paper. I used to have many journals of my writing. Eventually I got rid of them as I did not want anyone else to read them as they were so personal. All the best in what you decide to do. From Diane B.
