Wow, it's that time of year
First of all, I'm so grateful for my group of wonderful, strong, and brave women who are in this group. Thank you for your support. I was making some progress with my depression following the loss of Ralph. Like a tidal wave, sadness comes crashing down. My son's birthday is very much a trigger. Last year, we celebrated together. He loved going to the Olive Garden for his birthday dinner. I can't really bring myself to go there, but I will celebrate his day somehow. He was such a blessing in my life, and I miss him as much as I missed him the day he died. Sadness is unavoidable and I'm just trying to cope with the overwhelming feelings that sometimes bring me to my knees. Bless you all
Love to you,
Chris

I still avoid certain places,,, so does hubby..... I always think ... someday I\'ll go there again\" but I\'m not in a hurry..... love ya!
Be kind to yourself...that will be the best birthday gift ever..
One foot in front of the other, we go on because we have not choice. Hoping we can do it with honor for our children. Hugs!!!
I understand the depression. It is a bit of a roller coaster. The downs can be sudden. We just hang on and ride; knowing it will go up again.
Just know you are not alone.
Love and tight hugs, M
It took me a LONG time to return to what I refer to as \"Kala\'s mall\". Being a teenage girl, she practically lived there, LOL! But I slowly returned, not that I\'m a big shopper, and I actually look forward to going...and I take Kala with me!!
You will find your perfect way to celebrate your amazing Ralph and whatever that is, he will be right there with you, being his same ole silly and wonderful self. Look for the signs expecting to SEE!!
And yes, the best gift we can give our children is to take good care of ourselves! I have often gifted Kala with a massage for ME! LOL!! We laugh about that one!!!
Take care sweet friend~
Love to Ralph!
Understanding fully what you are describing, Chris. These days are tender ones indeed and each year changes for me because I am in a different spot on this path. The one thing that I do know is that our children want us to be as gentle and caring with ourselves as we are with others so allow yourself lots of wiggle room and grace.
Loving care as you make your way knowing that you are not alone and among sisters of the heart who understand the language of grief, loss and one day finding hope in the midst.
Remembering sweet Ralph with you and lots of deep inhales, exhales and pauses in the midst. You are doing your very best and that\'s enough, more than enough for this moment.
Heartfelt (((hugs))) of care,
XO Joanie
Yes, there are so many triggers and so much sadness following the loss of our sweet children. It is very hard to find support with some families and friends who do not understand just how difficult this all can be. We are glad you found the group and that you find the support you need here. I don\'t think the \"missing\" and the \"longing\" to see them ever goes away but some of all this does get better. Sending you and your family lots of love, Leda
oh Chris, these special days like birthdays that once brought joy are so hard now. May you feel dearest Ralph close by. Love and peace, Linda
I think just taking a breath and trying to get through the day would be a great birthday gift to honor your son. I always try to think \"what would he want me to do\". When you can answer that question, it becomes a bit easier. Prayers for continued comfort and strength. Much love. Robin
Oh yes the overwhelming feelings of sadness can take us down without a warning. We understand & we care. Seems only another mom who has lost a child can truly relate. I\'m glad you have found us so you don\'t have to to travel this journey alone. We are here with you & for you. Hand in hand and heart to heart. Hugs of understanding.....Vicki
