Worried about an upcoming change

I seem to feel distracted this morning, but it's not about things from my private journal.  This one's about something else.
For the past few years, my dad has been working at a hardware store that is within reasonable driving distance of my house.  He sells paint, basically.  But it seems like very often he's the only one in the place who's actually making an effort to work.  He could run the place if that was an option to him.
But it's not, and he's not exactly young anymore...he's 63 now.  Plus it is getting to the point where moving the sizable...sets (I can't remember the word) of paint, even with a forklift, is getting kinda difficult for him.
So he's leaving, effective at the end of next week.
This doesn't sound as bad as it potentially could be...he does have hobbies and he plans to be responsible for the garden this year.  He says he might look for another part-time job but realistically it's more likely he'll retire for good.
The worry I have really comes down to comfort...I'm not used to having him around the house except on nights and weekends.  And the two of us are kinda alike in the fashion that we don't sit still particularly well, unless of course I'm coming off a bad night's sleep under the covers (which has been often lately).  So while his intention is to slow down, I do worry that with the extra time on his hands he could go a bit batty, which in turn could drive me a bit batty.
I realize that I'm panicking kinda early because none of what I think will happen even has a chance to happen for another week and a half.  But this is kinda how it is with my tendency to worry about...well, pretty much everything; the scenarios get dreamed up pretty early and the resulting mental photo just stays there until something happens to prove it otherwise.
