Working Through It
I'm a 62 years old female. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about 6 years ago, moderate emphysema about 3 years ago, and mild sleep apnea about 2 years ago. Mixed inbetween these conditions are also high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Hashimoto's Thyroid Disease, Restless Leg Syndrome, and panic attacks that make me feel like I'm dying. Emotionally, and psychologically, I'm a mess, trying to deal with the various illnesses and diseases that I have.
I'm trying to remain positive and upbeat, but sometimes the fear of these illnesses/diseases and how I will die from them overwhelms me. The main rerason I joined this website is so that I won't feel so alone.

Your not alone with this. I\'m pretty sure we all get the same feeling when we read a bunch of the literature out there about emphy.. makes you feel like life is over and there\'s nothing you can do. That\'s why groups like this are so important.. you can read and meet members who have had it for many years and still enjoy life and live.. you are NOT alone!
Hugs, Lisa
Thank you so much, Lisa. I already feel better just corresponding with a couple of people I\'ve met in the past couple of days. It helps so much to know there are others who are rooting for me. Thanks for the kind words!
Wise King Solomon wrote, \" For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.\" (Ecclesiastes 1:18)
Good to have a certain amount of knowledge regarding your illness, but take each day one day at a time and let laughter and joy be the guides for your heart and your inner spirit to enjoy themselves from now on. Welcome here.
Thank you so much. Putting things in perspective is sometimes difficult for me, but I will give it my best shot. Thank you for your words of encouragement. You sound as wise as Solomon himself.
Glad to see you here and hope you will be okay in our group. It is nice to have a new person with us and enjoy. Just take on day at a time.
It\'s so nice to meet you, bbbb. I hope to get to know you better. Thank you for the kind words.
\"I am responsible. Although I may not be able to prevent the worst from happening, I am responsible for my attitude toward the inevitable misfortunes that darken life. Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I havelife itself. \"
Awesome...
\"Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment.\"
Starting to accept CPAP mask better after 2 weeks. Had a terrible time at first, with huge anxiety and panic attacks. Cried it out at counselor\'s office, and took anxiety meds from Primary Care to help me adjust to it all. Feeling much better now and more hopeful.
Received a good report from my Pulmonologist yesterday. Just a hairline increase of lung function on the Spirometer test, but it\'s still an increase. I\'ll take it!
You are doing just fine!! Hugs, Denise
I\'ve lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks. I\'m starting to feel more energetic and seem to be breathing a little better. I\'ve got a long ways to go, but taking it one day at a time. Things are looking up!
I haven\'t been on in a while and wanted everyone to know that I lost 23 pounds on Nutrisystem. I\'m feeling so much better physically! Now, I\'m facing losing my kitty, Jericho, to kidney disease and a brain tumor. He\'s been with me 15 years, and this news is devastating to me. He\'s been the light in my life for many years. I hope everyone is doing well.
I\'m sorry about your kitty. That is devastating.
