Working on building my future
Ok, so I have cleared a spot in the woods on private property - with the landowner's permission - to place my tent ... really a yurt, which is a large tent with a frame, round but not a dome. I have scrounged the materials to build it, and as soon as I get enough wooden pallets for the subflooring - got a free source within miles of where I current live - I can assemble everything and begin moving in. The land owner is actually happy to have someone planning on living there full-time, so I can help keep an eye on his property while he is away.
Mind you, I am NOT the only person he's allowing to do this sort of thing - there's getting to be a regular community of us, all decent folk who just need someplace safe to live until we can get back on our feet - most are veterans, like I am,... though not transgender.
I have a camp toilet and a camp shower and shower stall, and even discovered - rediscovered - a method of keeping food cold without ice or electricity. I have solar power, and several items that run on batteries, and my truck to recharge things.
Moving out there means getting rid of a lot of my stuff - which is ok, though sort of emotionally rough. I have clung to so many THINGS that I just need to get rid of.... because I never really had many friends. So now I work on ridding myself of the junk.
