Worked Early

Today I got a call at 8:30 in the morning. I ignored it and let it go to voicemail. It was my boss, asking me to come in early if I could. He said that there were no volunteers at the information desk, and that he needed someone who spoke Spanish. I got the message around 11am, so I got ready to go to work and made it in before noon. I had a good day... I got to make some appointments and taught the other volunteer how to make appointments so she could do it too. I talked to my boss, and he asked me when I wanted to start working there. I told him what I needed (part time, afternoons only, etc) and he said he would keep a lookout for me. He's such a kind man. I'm surprised that he wants me to get a job and stop volunteering, since that means there would be less help for him, but whatever. He knows that I could use the extra money. I don't get a lot in SSDI, and sure could use an extra $500 a month. That's a lot of money!
I'm getting stable to the point of being able to work now. I know I still have mood swings and such, but I'm more stable. I'm hallucinating, which is a sign that the mood swings are coming to an end and I'm going to be hallucinating for the next couple of months. Hallucinations I can deal with, though, because they mostly come at night. All I have to do is knock myself out, wake up in the morning and they are gone. The ones I get during the day aren't that bad. I just see and feel little bugs. I might look a bit itchy, but that's about it. I can still do my job around the bugs. It's the depression that makes me unable to work. Well, at least normally. I haven't gotten the bad hallucinations for a while. That means the Risperdal is working, at least partially.
I think I should ask my boss to keep a lookout for me starting tomorrow. I'm going to have to wait a bit until they find something that fits my criteria, so it's going to be a while and I should be stable by then. I can't wait until I am earning money again. It feels good to have a job and not have to depend on the government for money. I just need to wait a couple years until my cycles are calmer and I can hold down a job during the worst times of the year. It's always in the winter and fall. It starts in October, the day my dad died. Then it's okay until December and January when I get homesick. February comes and I can't get out of bed. This year it lasted until mid-March. Then I get mixed episodes in April with a bit of hypomania, and then the hallucinations come and last until October again. See, this is why I keep a daily journal... so I can look back and see the patterns. Of course, Geo knows them too. We've been married for 6 years, so he knows a lot about me and my patterns.
Mood today was good... I like working at the information desk. I got to use some of my Spanish, even though it's been a while and I had a hard time with the people speaking it. But eventually we got on the same page and I was able to help them. I don't know if tomorrow Stephanie is going to be helping out... she's the other volunteer who was working there with Daisy and I. I know tomorrow Nadine is going to be at the desk, so they shouldn't need 2 volunteers. But they are going to need me there for Spanish. Nadine speaks Creole, so that covers the main 3 languages of the area. Of course, there are many more Spanish speakers than Creole, but it's still needed. We have a bunch of Haitians in the area. A lot of the things here in Miami are in 3 languages.
Food today was good.. I'm in my calorie ranges again. I didn't do as much exercise as I wanted to.. I wanted to go for a walk after work, but I didn't want to test my hips. I will try and go tomorrow if it's not raining. It looked like it was going to rain tonight. I just stayed on the computer for a bit, and then made dinner- teriyaki chicken with rice. I had almost my normal breakfast... instead of a mini bagel with peanut butter, I had a mini bagel with Nutella. Lunch was a crab salad from Subway. I just wish they carried low calorie dressings at the cafeteria. I need to make a turkey sandwich for my lunch tomorrow since I can't be spending all this money on cafeteria food. It's just nice to have something fresh, and sometimes warm, for lunch. When I get a job there I can afford it. It will be nice to have a job again. I might even still go and volunteer there. I know I can only make so much money while on SSDI, so I would volunteer after I met my money quota for the month. I think they would let me do that.
