work kinda sucks

This job is starting to drain me.. Its not fun to me and I dont like the hours. When I got hired I was told it was part time but they are expecting me full time because they are short handed. I dont know if I aam just not used to it yet or if its just not a good match for me.. but I dont like being away from my kids for 8 hours when its already bad enough theyre dad is gone all the time too..

if they told you it was part-time, now is the time to start Practicing drawing those boundaries & being firm in your needs. Because what do you have to lose? Seriously, you\'re already beginning to feel drained and you\'re already starting to resent them.

Tell them: \"I am enjoying my experience here, but I applied with the understanding that these were the hours I was going to work. At this time, I cannot commit to working full time. I am available to work: _________ (and stick to it, no apologies). I understand you are short-handed, and I am flattered that you want to give me more hours. But I simply cannot do it at this time.\"

That way, you draw your boundary, maintaining your comfort zone around what you can feasibly do without being away from your kids for an extended period of time, and your co-workers will respect you for the boundaries and asserting your needs. Most people are not mind-readers, and that\'s where we get into trouble, expecting them to know why we\'re feeling disgruntled.

Don\'t let the job drain you. State your needs. Like I said, this is good practice for future experiences elsewhere :)
