Winter is coming...
I'm getting SOOO anxious that winter is coming here in NYC, today was bitterly cold and windy. I say that because I can feel myself getting depressed, feel it coming on, due to darkness coming earlier, and cold, staying home too much eating, not doing much of anything. All the other seasons, I kind of just drift along, am stable, but Winter has a bad impact. I'm SO not looking forward to this, not to even mention holidays coming up...oh gosh this is awful. how do you all handle it?

Hi Maria, I understand your fear. It can get very gloomy when the cold, damp weather sets in and also the darker evenings. I also hate waking up and it's dark at 7am! And cold. Hardly an inviting way to start the day off. That's the part I find the most depressing.
I try to make the house cosy, have my soft throw on the sofa (couch) and enjoy a hot drink and a movie. I only suggest hot drink as we've discussed the perils of comfort eating.
Or wrap up and go for a walk, it actually warms me up and the exercise is good. I always feel better after getting outdoors for a little bit.
I hope you won't find the adjustment to Winter too difficult. The holidays can feel really lonely but you can always come here to vent and share. Hopefully you'll spend some time with your daughter or sister over the holidays. At least Thanksgiving is just one day.
Do you enjoy Christmas at all?
I started my Vitamin D, two a day. I notice the difference. Enjoy the sunshine, whenever you can. Bundle up. How about joining the YWCA (swimming).
Holidays are a different story, but I'm getting better. Just think of it as another day. Volunteer during the time. You will certainly be appreciated. How about a vacation down south (Single resort), last minute is a good deal.
We are all here to help you get through the winter & Holidays! Hugs! Brooke
