Why son why?
Our son and grandchildren have lived with us for the past 3 years. We bought a duplex so that they could have their space and we could have ours. He is the custodial Dad of 3 children. We help with getting the kids off to school, running errands, greeting them after school and seeing they did their home work. Our son works long hours and it was working out very well for him. It was a financial and child care decision that we made this arrangement. A few months ago, he met a new gal who has 3 children of her own. Two weeks ago, he packed up and moved out without even talking to us. He and the kids have been our whole life. When he came back right after the move and asked for money, we told him that since his girlfriend and he were together, she could help him. She has 3 sisters, 2 sister-in-laws, one foster sister and mother who all have apartments in the same complex. He told us that he doesn't need us any longer and we will never see or communicate with him or the kids ever again. He has taken us off FB, and has all our phones blocked. My head is spinning because I just can't wrap my head about what happened and how quickly. He can just throw us away like dirt because her family is his new family and there is no use for us. I am sick over this. I keep rethinking and rethinking this to no avail. I have talked and cried my husband to death over this. He has no idea what happened or how to resolve it. What do you do? How do you handle this? I don't think I've ever been more hurt in my life. Sorry this is so long but I am frantic, upset, beside myself and totally confused. It's like our lives have been turned upside down and we are hanging by our necks. How could he possibly do this to us? A friend told me about your group so I decided to join so at least perhaps I can find some people who have some insight or at least know some thing of our hurt.

Isn\'t there some way for us to at least see the kids. Going from every day to not at all must be confusing to them since it sure is to me. I just wish I had an intermediary who could talk to him and try to help him get his head together. He can still have his GF and her family and our family. Love is to be shared and grow.
It\'s a difficult situation. You may need to let the dust settle first. Give him some space and then write to him. I\'m assuming that he\'s changed his address with the post office. You could send the letter to your home address and see if the post office forwards it. It\'s gut wrenching when these things happen. The sad part is the grandchildren. He\'s hurting them. From my own experiences, as hard as it will be, you\'ll need to give him space and time. You never know. He may have regrets already. Keep telling him that you love and miss him and the children.
