While at work today

While at work today, things were out of the usual but ...steady as she goes, everything got done. My coworkers were kind of messing around while I got things done..and I remembered the lesson to stay in my own lane despite my own fatigue but also today I just understood that if I kept at all the things that needed to get done that would help me keep things running and it was like a reinforcement in my philosophy and outlook.

I just did an errand on my way to my family's house. I arrived about 25 minutes early and didn't want to cause friction by entering early. So here I am in my car thinking also of applying that wisdom. Asking myself how do I avoid these embarrassing these kind of snafus at home and out there too. I heard someone once call it as 'being exemplary', for me I think it's like something about owning what you're doing. The job and my membership at it. Anyways almost time to go in.

Have a good weekend guys!!

and with the membership I can see how I am when I am alone in my home - and how I handle the alone time
rather than get so deep diving into the ether - I think I can learn to distinguish myself as to how I am going
to spend my time or even approach when I am with my family... I do get insecure and need a
metaphorical sign post to lean on - but I am finding that ownership and membership is a useful firmament.

i own my metaphorical sign posts, as well. for example, when i find myself feeling embarrassed over one of those little snafu's i do an inward personal inventory before i start trying to "read the room" for the root of my embarrassment. often i am the only one who sees a snafu in the mix.

"s.w.a.k." was an interesting blast from the past. my first reaction was to ask, "WTF does that mean?" then i remembered it's popularity in the late 60's, early 70's when i was a prolific pen pal. are you old enough to remember snail mail and pen pals?

I really like what arfie says about doing an inward personal inventory. Personally, I don't see how arriving 25 minutes early to your parents' house is an "embarrassing snafu." If you know that they don't like early arrivals, then it was very courteous to wait in your car for a bit. However, I cannot see how you did anything wrong.

"s.w.a.k." was a few years before my time. However, I loved snail mail and pen pals! Even though many folks no longer do, I still send greeting cards and letters, because I feel they are more personal than emails and texts (although those are good too!).

Have a great day, Mark! TTFN. : )

I'll just put this out there, but maybe at times we have to put our mind to processing things to find
a sense of commonality about our experience and then alternatively when with others we have
to negotiate our commonality (does that make sense?)

Makes sense to me, Mark.

In searching for (and negotiating) commonality, I like to explore the "why" behind another's point of view. This curiosity gives me the opportunity to see value in the other person's stance. While I might not necessarily agree with them, I "get" why someone might feel or act as they do. I've found that understanding leads to happier and healthier relationships.
