Where's the sleep?

For the past couple of months, my sleep schedule has been backwards. I fall asleep when I should be getting up (between 6 and 730am) and setting an alarm for 1-130 so I don't sleep the entire day away.

Yesterday I experienced panic a few times. I carried groceries up the steps and lost my breath and started to panic and made catching my breath even worse. That is one of the scariest feelings. I don't know if I just didn't recover from it or if this is something else.

I attempted to fall asleep last night/this morning and got startled awake like I couldn't breathe and panicked. This happened like 4 times. I think I nodded off for about 10-20ish minutes, but nothing significant.

It's almost 11:30 am now and I have decided to give up trying to get any rest.

I'm working on keeping the anxiety away with a few techniques that have helped in the past. They work for a while, but it keeps coming back.

If I stay up all day, I am hoping I can go to bed at a more reasonable hour tonight and maybe get myself back to a normal schedule.

I plan to stay away from social media today if I can help it. I don't know what is causing my anxiety today except that I startle awake like I can't breathe and have a tightness in my chest. But I cannot pinpoint what thoughts are plaguing me like I have been able to in the past. So if I stay away from social media and focus on reading a light romantic comedy and/or watching Friends (a trusty favorite) that I can help my anxiety calm down.

Have you ever had anxiety and you just don't know why? What do you do?
