when you're feeling low, what do you turn to
what is your absolution?
I was just reading a book about Theodore Roosevelt...and though he was a great man...
he suffered too from tormenting things in life...and he would turn to extreme physical exertion
to deal with and overcome his feelings...when they would torment him.
So, I am seeing his commonality here - and I realize I am in the same boat - it's a human thing
- WE are in the same boat so to speak.... The reading of this passage just reminds me that I am not alone in my struggle
and yet I too, we too, have to find our solution.

it's weird. I woke up this morning with the usual mental needling that happens - and I thought of a lot of ways I had failed
the day before at my family's house - how my illness makes me 'upset the apple cart' and yet I know this is probably
my illness talking - maybe not maybe but definitely yes -
and so I woke up - battling the sad, down feelings of failure of futility - and I took myself out for a coffee -
I started to read this book - and I wrote the above passage...and now I find myself wishing there were "a way" to hold onto
to deal with these issues of dismay as they come up... but maybe in the end ... this is part of the beauty of life...
it's hard... and it's discouraging... but perhaps the struggle is necessary.. to keep reminding us that we're alive...
My mental health is fragile and not reliable...but maybe if I just keep on keeping on - and remind myself to do
so...warts and failings all in all...I think there will be room enough for me to have the things in life that set
my life in motion... keep at the job.. keep at my family relationships and friendships - and this is my vision of appreciation...this is my treasure... my gold....
Winston Churchill used to call his depression 'black dogs'
Keep on keeping on is a good thing to do..... Big squishy hug......xo
thanks Jan! Have a beautiful day!! Say "YES" to life!!! xx
Hm-m-m-m-m??? Absolution???? Can my psycho ticks be absolved? Will they go away after I am declared free of guilt?
Just wondering. . .
A vigorous physical workout works well for helping vent anger and/or waiting anxiety, but not so much for my quieter hurts. Emotions like grief, depression, etc., only seem to burrow deeper in the presence of the aggression. I need gentler channels for those. Music. Art. Nature. Friendship. A monastery. Family. Etc. Etc.
thanks arfie! I didn't mean to use the word absolution in a religious sense - perhaps resolution?
Have a great day arfus!
I pray, journal with a pen and paper (usually in a journal book), watch a favorite show or movie, and sleep. Going to work usually lifts my moods, listen to Christian music(contemporary). I also eat which is bad.
thanks becky!
