What sustains us - - learning to be conscious of it
I was feeling out of sorts yesterday - as though I was not a strong
individual. My sense of self is so variable that indeed it is hard to make
plans in any direction because I seem to change in outlook and ABILITY so easily.
I've talk about this before. I come back to it time and again..
But uniquely in this case, I thought about my needs. I thought about my needs as supplying
a framework or a support system to my identity..
It came to me like this:
I need.
We all have need.
And we choose those things that sustain us in life - aka fulfill those needs (and in doing so
we are buoyed and supported in life by our identity's proclivity.)
From our profession to relationships.
Whether our job is our life's fulfillment: like a devotion to god or to academia or to art or doctoring.
Whatever the niche choices might be....
Or
Just the job/income is used as a 'means to an end' and then our relationship is our main focus in our lives.
Our significant relationship might be what sustains us and
wouldn't it be great to have both?! (job devotion and relationship) - I almost dare not wish for that both
as it would seem so lucky!
So I just wanted to say I find for myself that I take sustenance from the things
In my life that fill me up in my individual needs - and with the lability and variability of my mind those things
really bolster my sense of self as they remind me calmly with acceptance of who I am.
My insecurity today was forcing me to ask this question of myself as though 'why did I need so?' 'why am I not a strong individual?'
But I am learning it is so important to listen to my needs.
And so my mind went to the different things in my life that give to my sense of affirmation and sustenance and fulfillment enough to look beyond my own face, nose or feelings to regard that in others too...
- it's like my consciousness is rising but also learning who I am. Giving me a sense of place.
I have been very happy at certain times in my life but also I was very sick - I can't lament and go back
but I can build upon what information is coming to me now - in the listening to myself.
