What is My Focus?
I'm still choosing to reduce my newer philosophy to it's simplest memorable design. In a contination of my last couple of posts, the next change has to do with the thought and beliefs about life and happiness; and it involves where I am focusing my attention about my life, and my feelings about it. Hopefully, it will improve my ability to control and master even more of my feelings.
And idea I read recently was suggested in my last post, mentioning the amount of thankfulness about life itself, the experience of actually being given LIFE, at all; and comparing it to not having life, at all. The suggestion was to become more thankful for just having a life, instead of demanding a certain different life as a condition to feel thankful for having life.
It would seem, and I include others in humanity like me here, that I was reared with the conditioning to not be thankful for the life I have, and instead "bitch", and find fault, for not having the life I DON'T have. I noticed that I am often not thankful for the life I've GOT, and I tend to complain about the life I DON'T got. I have chosen to prefer a dream life that I do not have, that is imaginary, a fantasy, and I may never have, and instead choose to deny all the positive and loving attributes of the life I DO have.
To me, it is a question of focus. Am I willing to choose to be happy with who I am, as I am, or do I choose to be unhappy for not being who I am not. Again, it reduces down to a simple choice: one or the other, not both. I feel they are mutually exclusive ideas, thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. and it effects my chosen actions.
We all die eventually, and do I want to die unhappy with my life because I wanted some other life, or do I want to die accepting the truth: my life was acceptable, I just chose to feel it wasn't according to what I was focusing my thoughts and feelings on, and therefore my actions and experiences? That I focused more on what I didn't have in life than what I did have. (Waah, waah, waah! Just life a baby or spoiled brat. Complain, complain, complain; because I'm not getting what I want, when I want it, like I want it.) It gets back to "The Law of Attraction", what am I attracting more of with my feelings and thoughts? And do i like what I'm getting inreturn: unhappiness with my life. It is for ME to change, not anyone or anything else. I am responsible for my choice of feelings, no one else. I can BLAME them! And that is a neurotic condition: it does not address solving the problem, it denys it. The solution is in learning to choose how I feel.
I'm feeling it is time to be thankful for what I have now, knowing that my experience will continue to change, my feelings will still continue to swing between satisfaction with some things and dissatisfaction with other things, until I regain control of those feelings to serve me and how I choose to experience my own life. I am learnng to control my feelings as soon as I become aware that I am not choosing the ones I prefer. AND, I will let others do the same, and I will not interfere with how they choose to feel, or feel responsible for how they are feeling.
Mastery requires responsibility, and responsibility requires an ability to respond, appropriately for how I choose to feel. Being as loving as I can, to myself first, and to the life I have been given, and the "things" I do have now; and share myself in that fashion. And to not blame labels and "things" to control my feelings and thoughts. It does require some vigilance, and too much vigilance may turn into obsession and compulsion. The idea is to be able to cope with "balancing" the changes in feelings, and control them when they are felt as hurting my self's emotional responses to my environment(s). The work is continual, and not a failure or success concerning perfection of control. It is a desire to choose when ever it is necessary, and not a "need for perfection or survival. Eventually, none of us survive living, as humans; and who we are at this moment. Infact, we change with every heartbeat, and we change even more dramatically when the heart stops. Until it does, we get to choose how we feel about our lives; and at least I do mine, based on what I am believing now. (That may change according to how I choose to think, feel, and act.)
That may be as simple as I can get it, for me, for now.
