What do you practice?
I was lying here getting my head around how to keep positive and feel directed in life, but then the whole issue of entertaining myself in between major events wasn't clear to me. I find that it's OK to entertain myself, kind of a hurdle conceptually for myself, and I had the insight that I do entertain myself with mental spinning and I guess that is 'what I practice.' But I think that I want to find classes and entertaining stuff to really occupy my time when I'm not working because simply for the reason that I'm interested in them and that sounds like a wonderful rest from all this mentalization that I do I can't wait to start doing things like this ...so refreshing ...so fun ...so free and all OK to do because we all must entertain ourselves when we're not doing the pragmatic or the right thing to do with our lives in our days.

The one thing that has brought me happiness is living one day at a time...one hour at a time.....one moment at a time and I challenge myself to make that moment as good as I can. It might be with deep breathing or it might be feeling appreciating for something or someone....or it might be opening up a book and reading it.....meditating. Lots of things. I am terrible at planning ahead, mostly because I just enjoy the moment. While I am typing this, my room mate who is also my ex wife, has some music playing on her computer while she is praying. It's called peaceful time with jesus. Our times together, in prayer and meditation, morning and evening are my most favorite times of the day......especially when the dogs are sleeping :-) God Bless
That's lovely Bob
It's something that I should really work at as well Mark
I was going to write that gratitude is my best tool but to really be thankful for this very moment isn't something I practice and I'll start right now
Thank you...xo
Thank you so much Bob and Janet! These are beautiful!!! And so important!!
it took me a long time to admit the psychotic parsing of my intrusive thoughts were a form of self-entertainment. the very notion seemed to mock the hard work i put into climbing the cross built during the surviving of child sex trafficking. you wouldn't mock that illegitimate child born over 2,000 years ago, would you? he was only a bastard. his guardians never sold him into prostitution! !
sigh. . .
putting my cross back in the closet. . .
these days i practice gratitude and appreciation wherever possible. just practicing. maybe someday i will get good at it.
Thanks Arfie, prayers and big appreciation for you
