What do you do when you are home alone?

What do you do when you are home alone?  I was so used to doing things with my husband.  We did everything together.  After awhile I get bored with watching TV.  I was just curious what other people do when they are home alone.  I don't do video games.  I am not a knitter.  I don't crochet.   I don't rent videos.  I have on friend who has a boyfriend so her weekends are tied up.  I have my older brother who lives in Richmond, BC as well but he gets busy doing things.  My daughter is expecting her first child and lives with the father named Grant.  We get together most Saturday but not every Saturday.  Like I asked, what do you do when you are home alone?

Diane...I know the loneliness you are feeling. I try to keep a set routine during the week. I get up around 6 am, feed my cats, get on the computer for a while, eat my breakfast, watch about an hour or so on tv...get bored, then I get ready to go do my volunteer work at my church. I usually get there around 10 am and leave around 1:30 pm. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I go to the gym after leaving my volunteer work. I stay there until around 3 pm...get home around 3:30 pm or 4 pm. Get back on the computer until it\'s time to feed my cats around 5 pm, then I try to eat around 5:30 pm or 6 pm. Even doing this, I still have my crying spells. I can\'t seem to stop. I read some and usually that makes the time go by. I don\'t have any friends or family that are available...especially during the week. All my friends are still working and one of my brothers lives too far away...but he works too. My older brother always has something to do...he keeps busy all the time and I hate to bother him. It does get so lonely. The weekends are the hardest for me. Saturday and Sunday are so much worse. The weekend afternoons are terrible for me. I try to keep busy, but that doesn\'t work. I try not to bother my friends because I know they work during the week and the weekends are the only time they can be with their family or do what they need to do. I wish someone could tell me how to get over being so lonely. It is about to drive me crazy!!! I\'m right there with you.

I know what loneliness is too. Although, I have to say my full time job takes away most part of the week. So, I\'m at a loss during the weekends. I\'m trying to go out with friends and have fun, but that doesn\'t work most of the times.

During the week, I come home from work at 4:30 am in the morning...sit on computer for about 2 hours, then watch TV for another 2 hours. By this time my dad leaves for work (it doesn\'t matter anyway, even if he\'s home, we hardly talk). I go to my mom\'s room and cry myself to sleep. Wake up at 3 pm and eat my lunch, crying all the way, just as Cathy mentioned. Then I write a letter to my mom, telling her everything I have on mind. Then I scream my lungs out and cry for another 20-30 mins. During this time, my aunts, friends or my dad call up and I act absolutely normal with them. Then I read, A LOT. It calms me. It\'s already afternoon by then and it\'s very breezy then. I sit at the balcony and read, overlooking the children\'s park just in front of my house. Then it\'s time for shower and the office car comes for pickup soon after.

The loneliness kills me. Doesn\'t matter how many people call, the only person I care about will never call my name again. As much as I try to move forward, have fun, laugh a little, the emptiness and loneliness are my new best friends. Hope you find a job soon enough and make new friends. Take care!
