What a life

Well life is interesting to say the least.  I have been obsessing about the contract that I agreed to do.  I met with the lady who is organizing it yesterday.  She asked me if I thought I could commit to the job.  I guess I didn't sound so enthusiastic when I said yes.  She asked if I wanted to do it.  I don't think I really answered.  She then mentioned that she had someone else who could do it!  Woo hoo!  I said I would be happy to let her do it!  She asked if I wanted to fill in if someone was sick.  I said NO.  What a relief!  When I told Joe, he smiled and said "maybe you are really retired now".
So then i got a text from a friend who was on vacation on Vancouver Island.  She and her husband drove there last week.  The day after they got there, her husband fell down 7 stairs and severely injured himself.  He was in the hospital until today.  He is going to fly home and Marie was going to drive.  It is long drive over the Rocky Mountains.  I asked  if she would like some company on the ride home.  She said yes so I am flying to Victoria tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, Lorraine has had a lot of tests and still has to see the pulmonary specialist.  She will probably have to have a needle biopsy.  Needless to say, she is stressing.  Joe will still go to walk her dogs when I am gone.  It is too hard for her to walk 2 standard poodles.
I am beginning to wonder "What next?"
The upside is, I am feeling a lot less depressed knowing that I won't have to teach a very boring module over and over and over again. plus driving hundreds of miles to do it!
Lisa:  I have enjoyed your visits.  The woodpecker was very cool!  I miss you always and love you forever,  Mum

You are such a caring person. Maybe, you didn\'t take that job because your friend was going to need you, even though you didn\'t know it at the time. I have vacationed all over those Rocky Mtns. and driving in them scares me to death. You girls be careful.

I am glad you had a visit from Lisa. those signs mean so much to us moms. Take care of yourself....

I\'m sorry about your friends husband and am sending positive energy and lots of love in hopes of a speedy recovery. Enjoy your drive with her, as I\'m sure it will be a time of sharing, laughing, and perhaps even sharing a tear or two. All good \"girl\" stuff! Make an adventure out of it, and don\'t be surprised when Lisa pops in!....and she just may bring a friend along too!!...you know how much Kala loves to travel! So, eye wide open!!

Things are unfolding just as they need to. I can feel your relief and I\'d say, \"Yes\" to retirement now. As you know one can be busier than ever during those years too. :)

Glad you will have that ride with your friend and continued prayers of healing for Lorraine.

YOU are a blessing in the lives of many dear Marlene.

Glad that Lisa makes her presence known and what a gift of comfort that is.

Lots of love and safe travels.

Being truly retired is a blessing. I like being retired -- getting up whenever I want (except when Athena is here), taking naps whenever I want, going for walks whenever I want, I enjoy the freedom. But Marlene we know our retirement will always be marred with the sorrow of missing Lisa and Jason.
Tight hugs -- love ya Marlene

You are a good friend-that was so kind of you -- who knows what potential \"trouble\" is now being averted due to your generosity. I\'m glad you got out of something that didn\'t \"fit right\" -- very good feeling when set free!
And it made me smile big inside to think of Joe walking two standard poodles -- what a cute image in my mind! :-) Love, Donna

I was \"blessed\" in a way with my health failing and receiving disability before Josh died. I don\'t think I could have worked and gone through this long path of grief as well. Marlene you are a good friend and could probably just be a full time professional friend helping whomever needs it.
Much love,
Leda
