Well mom its just you and me

We were zitting in church 5 weeks ago and I heard my phone viberate.  I went out to take the call.  It was the nursing home to inform me that within hours my mom would die.  We had just been home for 2 weeks and she was improving.  So we had returned to Florida.   We rushed to get home driving through the dark to get home before mom died.  We got there and she was still alive.  Why my brothers and sister left her alone to die alone I will never understand, but there she lay breathing hard yet alive.  I got there which I  have been thankful that I did and I got in bed with her holding her, talking to her, sharing my love to her.  For the past 2 1/2 years after she became worse I spent as much time as possible.  The nursing staff was good they came and turned her ever two hours, and made sure there was room for me to get back in bed with her.  This went on through the night.  I put her arm around me as I held her close. Around 625 that morning her fever went to 105.  They stripped the covers off her put cold towels on her.  At 633 I watched her taked her 2 last breaths.  She was gone.  My mother, my mom, my friend was now in her Heavenly Home.  After the nurses and drs had all left and as I sat in the chair beside her, my words to her were Well, mom it started with me and you and it ended with me and you.  You see, I was her first born and her only child by a different father.  It was one month yesterday and i feel very alone.  Love you mom your daughter, Sandi

I am sorry to hear you lost your Mom, they are the very special people of our life. They teach us so much. I lost my Mom just after I turned 15, so I do understand the loss of our very first friend.

I'm so grateful that you could be with your mom as she shed her earth suit. Oh, how we miss our dear mothers who are our first cheerleaders in this life. I so MISS mine and the laughter that we always shared.

Take care, Sandi, and wishing you continued healing for your loss.

Heartfelt (((hugs)))

I am so glad, you made it to her side. I can't immagine the other kids leaving her, to die alone!! Guess it takes all kinds. I was with my husband, when he drew his last breath too. How blessed we are, to have been with them, when they left for their Heavenly home!! I am sure she sensed you there with her and knew she was not alone.

I am so sorry for your pain. No matter how much we know that people die... it hurts to let them go... April 22nd will be 11 years since my mother died... I still miss her earthly presence... I cling to all my memories and I think often how grateful I am that I had and have a mom that I loved and love... and who loved and loves me... I hope that you will feel you mother's love surrounding you. Hugs Elissa

Thanks to all replies. Yes as all who have lost their parents it is very difficult. Things were go go go after the funeral. Home for 2 days and hubby wanted to get back to the MH in Fl..too soon for me to leave but he just didn't seem to get it. We got back homevthis past week. I feel so down and alone. Losing mom is different than losing Ken but so many memories resurface. Thanks again, Sandi

I'm so glad that you were able to be with your mom for those last days. I was with my mom and I cherish those memories, even though I miss her terribly.
Losing my mom and daughter within 6 months of each other, the grief is definitely different in some ways, but in other ways, it is the same. the longing, missing and sadness are gripping @ times.
Be gentle with yourself as it takes every ounce of energy to sometimes walk this journey.
