Welcome 2012
We are back in the normal world after a blissfully relaxing holdiday on Lombok over Christmas and New Year. Even though it was the wet season in Indonesia, we were so lucky with the weather. We had an amazing villa with its own 25 metre swimming pool. It made us feel like the rich people of the world but we actually got it on a Daily Deal internet site for $100 a night. All the staff were so lovely and really spoilt us andt it was very hard to wave goodbye We had a really relaxing time, swimming, eating and drinking – most of it water. We went out to dinner on Christmas night to the nearest little town. One of our girls had bought over Santa hats for everyone. We wore them in the restaurant and have the photos to prove it.On New Years Eve we stayed at the villa and had a BBQ cooked for us and had fireworks let off. We were all inside by 10 o'clock so certainly weren't raging. It was great, though and we thoroughly enjoyed it..
However, first our daughter from Dubai had a few days of flu-type illness, then DH got a similar thing the last five days and I have never seen him so ill. The girls trulytruly thought he was about to take his last breath. He was also delirious NYE night. Maybe it was the combination of antibiotics and champagne (and it was Moe too – what a waste of good champers!!!).
That night and the next day before we left our other daughter was in agony with aches and pain all over, same thing, too. I really didn't know if they'd be able to get on the plane. However, they did but it was a long and tough trip for them as we had six hours wait between flights. Both went to the doctor when they got home and are now feeling much better after finishing antibiotics. I had an email from our other daughter to say that that this 'flu virus is raging around Dubai so maybe she brought it over. Of course, with the Internet and my “medical degree” I diagnosed them with Dengue Fever but the Doctor didn't think so. Lol I was the only one who didn't get sick which was rather ironic as I'm the one with the compromised immune system. We needed one of us tostay on deck anyway.
Must tell you what happened last week to give you a giggle. I drove up to the supermarket about 5pm to get just a couple of things. The girls at the checkout were telling me a car had taken off down the stree and hit a tree. Well I came out and couldn't find my car. It took about ten minutes before I got around to thinking that maybe it was our car that had taken off and gone into the park. Well, yes it was – apparently I hadn't put the handbrake on and it was in neutral. Just showsthat I wasn't thinking straight because I always look over to check that the handbrake is on. It's hard to believe but our carhad taken off down the street backwards, went between two parked cars, into the park, missed the tree and was brought to rest by a council garbage bin. So, the only damage was a scrape under the bumper bar. As yet, I haven't confessed up and my husband hasn't noticed. I will but will wait until he's feeling fully better.At the moment we have my cousins from Townsville, North Queensland staying with us. Their cruise finished in Sydney and it's been so good to spend time with them. Even though we are separated by a huge distance, there has always been a special connection between our families. So, that's been our start to 2012. Our goal is to see less of doctors' waiting rooms this year - Lol- 122 visits between us in 2011. I so hope this year will be a better one for many people and to those of you who are walking such a tough road, please know you are in my thoughts.

With the exception of the terrible flu, your holidiay sounded perfect. I am sorry that your whole family had to get sick. I\'m sure you took good care of everyone...there is nothing like being cared for by a mom/spouse when your down. I will never have that feeling again but am lucky to have known it from the best. I wonder if it was the Norovirus. I have talked to so many who had it. As for the lodging, it sounds like another world! I confess, I\'ve never let my car roll away, although I did hit a mirror while driving on a fence that was sticking out. Very hard to hide that from hubby. LOL. Enjoy your summer. I can\'t say the same for winter here.
