Weekly insight: The do one thing method

Something this week I found has made me feel better about myself and the world that my mind tries to paint for me is motivation. Now, I'm not just talking about that motivation to get a checkboxed item off you major to-do list, but the motivation to just be in the day and accomplish at least on tiny thing. One of my coping skills is video games, but it can turn into a vice of secluding myself from the world for the whole day. That's not being in the day and could lead to feeling unaccomplished or stuck in a rutt (or whatever appropriate feeling you can throw in here). It has been one thing I sorta have been doing as well as just deciding to lay around because I feel so tired. So I've been trying to get myself to do one productive thing a day and it makes me feel a little better about how I spend my days. Yesterday, on lack of sleep and anxiety, I spent a good chunk of my morning cleaning cupboards, writing the grocery list, doing my laundry, and taking my time to use this site as a coping mechanism. This was because I only planned on making the grocery list. Don't ask the sleep deprived how they got the energy boost, but it happened. My point is doing the one thing can be benificial and could lead to accomplishing more. And it doesn't have to be anything huge, and that's the best part. Your one thing could be making your bed every morning, taking a morning shower, setting aside thirty minutes to meditate. It can be that simple. Now I'm not saying that this will work for everyone, but it is something to highly consider trying.
