Week Two

The weekend was deliciously restful but entirely too short. Neither GKs nor GPs (Grand Parents) showed the slightest inclination to get any more adventurous than the big barn to visit the turkey babies in their play yard. All three GKs have developed disturbing coughs which mandated a drive into town for cough medicine yesterday morning. Hubs and I are gueapissing allergies. There are just enough diffs between here and their hometown 100 miles to the south to account for an allergy increase, especially during the summer intensity of a South Plains heat. Plying local honey for the allergy shot. Honey don't get any more local than the apiary a few hundred yards from where I sit.

As of bedtime last night, all three children were still exhausted enough to pass out more than fall asleep. I'm sure the doses of allergy and cough meds helped with that phenom. GPs, too. Hubs and I didn't need allergy medicine, but we are running paces that are a shock to our geriatric systems. This morning I woke up an hour early for an extra hour of meditation before I throw the alarm clock (bacon) on the griddle to start the gentle wake up call of breakfast smells. Saluting the adage that 30 minutes of daily meditation is enough unless you are REALLY busy. Then you need an hour.

My gamsense tugs toward giving the children another day of rest, but my dreams of academic success in GS's first grade experience nudges toward getting ready for the first day of week two. Onward through the fog. Stepping small, praying big and letting God lead the dance. The good news is that we have a three day weekend at the end of week two. Next Monday is U.S. Labor Day.

There is probably lots of things in a farm environment to be allergic to.

There are lots of thing everywhere to be allergic to. I have as hard a time going from wilderness allergens to urban allergens as I do going from one climate to another. Allergens are, quite literally, everywhere. 'Tis all a question of what's gonna bite ya.

Spider bites can be pretty bad. I don't think I ever got stung by a bee. I think I got stung by a caterpillar once.

I'll take spider bites and bee stings over inner city hoarder dust. The dust that accumulates in hoard piles will give me misery for weeks.
