we are like squirrels
I went to the pub today. I had a glass of wine and some sweet potato fries.
I came home and did a bunch of chores.
I have been struggling with my spirituality and my nature at times -
I do believe in having morals and an ethos in life and a pathos.
It's what I am about but
I shouldn't also not forget that I have an animal side in me
that is 'just surviving'. Sometimes I come up against that part of me
and fight it like it ought not to exist. And we each have different sizes of that
within us. I realized today we are like squirrels - fighting, scratching and biting (figuratively).
We have our human emotions - and we have our spirituality in the face of our animal natures
and the limit of those animal natures - what the animal sides make us prone to do - rather than
have heavenly relationships or existence. It's strikes me as weird at times
that we are all out there just trying to survive like squirrels or any other kind of a creature.
Collecting acorns, stashing acorns for the future... Reproducing to create the next generation...It all seems so simple, that we
are not much more than that. But I do believe our spirituality might be us facing
our animal sides and knowing there is more out there. I often wish there were something
magical to life. I also am a monarchist too .....it just makes me feel like someone out there cares.
I understand its social role and cultural role. I think having it in the UK effects all English speaking
countries for the good. I just know that I have been trying to understand my emotions and feelings
as something in unison with my spirituality - when in fact maybe I need to consider them separate
in the face of including their dynamic regarding the dark or animal side. I know I've said
life is about taking care of life and keeping it going. And also my signature keep on keeping on.
My relationship to this is just evolving and growing. Peace.

You’re a big thinker. I think sometimes that can be easy to get tangled in.
Regarding squirrels. I watched a funny Sarah Silverman reel of what she learned about squirrels.

It’s really interesting Nikki. This essay also makes me think about the native Americans. Europeans may have been ‘stronger’ than them but clearly the natives had more of a sustainable and thoughtful approach to their appetites. The natives held the philosophy of preserving resources with 7 generation ahead in consideration. The Europeans seem to be consuming all resources to the point of self destruction. ‘Stronger’ animals we are, but not smarter.
Thanks Nikki, I can’t find nuts sometimes lol.
God wants to have a relationship with you Mark. Then you will be able to find the answer to all your questions. God bless. Have a good day.
Thanks Becky!
Mark, it’s interesting to think of dominance among human and how we are, essentially, so primal and animalistic. I love the word humanity more and more as I experience life.
