Walking against a brick wall
So what does someone do when progress seems impossible? When you, your doctors, your family and your friends are utterly at a loss as to what to do? My pain has been nothing short of atrocious for months, Its manageable for a few hours a day, but then they run out, and it feels like Im laying under all the sand of the hourglass. My back feels crushed, the syrinx in my spine is in my T spine, so the middle of my back hurts horribly. My degenerative disc disease is in my L spine, so the bottom of my back hurts terribly. My ribs are in unbelievable pain from the large number of fractures in there I got during my early teens. My legs and hips are in terrible pain from my fibromyalgia.
So knowing this, the question is, what can I possibly do to fight the pain? Narcotics? Sorry but they cause unpleasant digestive issues, and I've had such a huge intake of morphine and demerol during my pre teen years and every other opiod you could imagine during my teens that they do nothnig for pain. Muscle relaxers do nothnig at all. I Cant take antiinflamatories because of my ulcers. I take 3000mg of gabapentin daily. I could take lyrica but its too expensive. So where do I turn? A blindman cant read the writing on the wall, a deaf man cant hear your best advice. So where does the man with no options turn when he needs a hand?

Just want you to know that there are people out there reading this and understanding. It is amazing that you have the perseverance and courage to write about your experiences. Your entries make me feel less alone and remind me that we are a family, all of us who are struggling with this simultaneously, in different homes and in different countries. Your posts are helpful and encouraging. Please know that there are many of us who are in similar situations and though I don\'t know you in person I\'m sending you lots of love and strength. I don\'t have medical advice. The things that have helped me are somewhat abstract and not necessarily consistant. I can however reccomend a book. It has helped me a lot, it is called \'how to be sick\' by Toni Bernhard. I hope things get better for you.
Uuugh! I just realized that I wrote about that book before - sorry about that. My memory has been totally off recently becuase of the pain killers + fibro fog. I suppose that if anyone understands its you and others with similar conditions... sorry again though.
