Volunteering....
I just got home from volunteering at the Jewish board, a huge organization here in NYC that helps the needy, helps people look for jobs, intervenes when there's a problem with a child, feeds people, etc. I've volunteered with them only a handful of times, not often.
Tonight they had a "volunteer appreication night party". It was a real nice party, food, music, sociazing, activities. Went on for about 4 hours. I got to socialize, and there were two women that I have spoken to last time I was there. Well we had a great conversation, and now I am planning to volunteer again. There were other familiar faces there also.
I read somewhere that in order to make new friendships, if you volunteer, you have to be CONSISTENT. When you volunteer more often, you'll see the same people more often, and being a volunteer, you will bond with people, since it's the same cause.
So I am going to try being more consistent--I think that is the key.
I had a great time. How often do I go to parties? (like, never). I am going to contact them in a day or two, thank them for inviting me, and ask if they have other opportunities for me. CONSISTENCY is the key!!

Hey Maria. Sounds like a great day. I'm so glad that you had a nice time meeting people and socialising. And you're doing good by volunteering. Well done you!
Hi Maria, I'm glad you went to the party & will continue to volunteer. Like I said you have to put yourself out there. Hugs! Brooke
I'm glad that you had a good time and will continue to volunteer, surely you will start to make new friends, Hugs...
I think that is a good approach, don't wait for them to approach you, you approach them first! Say Hi, introduce yourself, have a conversation and ask people out or invite them! you can do it!
