Voluntary Simplicity
It struck me today something that went wrong in my life in the last few years. When my kids were smaller and living home I maintained a simpler life. Hard to believe, 4 kids and life was simpler, but it was - it was a lifestyle choice. Maybe more of a mindset than anything because alot of the things I did back then would make my current life more complicated. I ran across a website today that I used to visit and that led me to others (on voluntary simplicity) ... i have read the books but I've gotten so caught up in work and family and stress and anxiety and the corporate world that I've forgotten about keeping it simple. I guess it was in the back of my mind because I had already decided that this weekend I'm doing a major decluttering of my bedroom and probably the whole downstairs. I end up collecting alot of 'stuff' that doens't mean anything to me and then it clutters up my space and I feel stressed out just looking around my house. I have a strong desire, need even, to live my life my own way... "There is only one success - to be able to spend your life in your own way." ~Christopher Morley. I have alot of thinking to do, lots of writing to do, deciding what the really important things are and what I can cut out but I feel like I have a bit of direction ... should be an interesting weekend for me.
