Visits from Grandchildren
This year was far from the traditional Christmas for us. We had no family get together since all we have are ES and his children. However, we did find a way to make things happy and bright. The kids started their Christmas Recess on December 19. We had our oldest GD age 14 with us for the 19, 20, 21 and 22. We took her Christmas shopping and let her pick out what she wanted. It was a great time and we rediscovered how much we love and miss one another. The weekend of December 26, 27, 28, 29 we had our only GS and were so happy with his maturity at age 9. He was such a joy to have with us. On Jan 1, 2, 3 and 4 we have our GD age 12 with us and we took her shopping today. We decided to let each child pick out what they wanted so we would be sure they got what they really wanted. ES has had to speak with us a couple of times during these times due to the GC. Our conversations have been brief but pleasant. Now each weekend, we want to have 1 of the 3 at least for the first 3 weekends of the month and then take a break the 4th one. It is so important to us and to them to do this on a regular basis. Although we will only see each one just once a month, the weekend will be full of love and good times. It is so much better than being unable to see them. So glad their father is allowing us to see them although he said we would never see them again. Just shows there is hope and I pray that one day ES and we will have something of a relationship. All praise be to God.

There are 2 other GC but no hope in seeing 6 and 3 year old since their mother is GF of ES and she definitely will not allow that. However, ES is a single custodial of the 3 older ones.
That\'s wonderful, why!
It\'s so nice that you have your grandchildren. I am so happy for you.
I am so very glad that your ES allowed that to happen. It must have been heavenly, to have them for such long weekends, and to be able to shop for them with no fear of them not getting the gifts or other consequences. I am happy for you. I hope and pray that this does show some softening of your ES\'s heart, and I hope and pray that he will continue to let his 3 oldest come to visit you, on a regular basis. I know that would be a balm to your grandmother\'s heart. Always wonderful to hear that something planned turned out well. I\'m sure you must have been very anxious beforehand, and wondering if it would all crash down on you in some negative way, that\'s how I would have felt, but I am just so thankful you got that quality time with grandchildren. What a blessing.
Whyonlychild I share with you now the joys of being a grandparent again! I too am looking forward to spending time with each of my 3 and getting to know who they are now 6 years later! I had a ball with them yesterday and the time to leave came way before I was ready to leave their company! But before I left, since they each got Kindles for Christmas, they had me put this free app on my tablet called Zello and today one of them communicated with me on that app! Thrilled my heart to know he was thinking about me as much as I have been thinking about him! He and I always were close when he was little, spent lots of time with him then! I have decided to just not dwell on the ones still Estranged....all 10 of them still and spend this year focusing on the 5 I have been given back!!! Praise the Lord for answered prayers for both our families Whyonlychild!!!
Count our blessings, try to stay positive, the power of prayer, these are all things that help us persevere. Thank you all for your support and sharing in our tremendous joy. All things are possible through God who strengthens me. Praying this gives each of you encouragement and hope. You may be surprised as to where things can and will go and things may be better than you hoped. Thank you all. God bless. Prayers and hugs
