Visiting ICU again.
Dear friends of my daughter, Melany, is going through a horrible time. Their only son, 15, is in ICU after a bad virus caused his bowls to burst open and die off. He had 4 major operations within a 10 days period, and is now fitted with a bag on the outside of his body.
Last week I joined the mother to support her, until her husband could get leave from his work. Walking into ICU again for the first time since Colleen passed, was difficult. But I decided to switch off my emotions and concentrate on the sick boy and his mom. The boy is also on the ventilator, just like Colleen was. I thought this experience would help me to heal, by making peace with ICU and the ventilator. Donald was semi-conscious, and that was very positive to me. But last Thursday he got weaker, and did not respond at all anymore. I could see him dying, just like Colleen did, and I just cracked up. My son took me home that afternoon.
Fortunately the boy's dad got 2 weeks leave, and joined his wife and son at the hospital on Friday. Donald is still much the same, due to the constant infection from the virus (Salmonella virus). I keep praying for him, but I also re-live Colleen's last week in ICU, and fear for the worst. I am in a daze once again. Why get close to people, if they just keep on dying?!

OH dear~~~ I\'m so sorry to hear this news.
Many prayers and much LOVE energy being sent to Donald and his family.
I\'m sorry for where this has taken you emotionally.....it must be so hard and so sad for your heart.
\"Why get close to people if they just keep dying\".......MY answer is, \"because they will die, I will die, but until that day comes I choose to love with my whole being\". The love is worth the tears~~
(((hugs)))
my prayers for Donald and his family....
I am so sorry. My prayers are also with Donald\'s family.
You are a caring, courageous lady. I am sure Donald\'s mom appreciated you being there with her. I honestly don\'t know if I could go to the ICU where Lisa died.
Please take time to care for you now.
Love and hugs,
Marlene
Wow...you are so brave!!!
My prayers and HUGS my dear friend for this horrible and almost inconceivable tragedy! I had no idea salmonella could do such damage, especially to someone so young. I am so sorry. I understand the question you asked: why, indeed? Because that is what we were intended for, to love: one another, ourselves. To offer support, a smile and hug when we are dying inside, a strong shoulder when we ourselves need one, this is the message of Jesus: love God first, then love one another as you love yourself. Is there any real understanding of this....of course not, we are part of the creation, we cannot comprehend it. We must live in it with courage, strength (even when we feel we have none) and faith.
{{{HUGS}}} and prayers....
Vibes of healing being sent to Donald. Hugs, Kathy
