Video Vault: VGM: Outrun: Splash Wave (remixed rock version)
In the mid-1980s, after Pole Position (which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year) fever was starting to wane a little bit, most arcade racers aimed to be as playable as Sega's Outrun, released in 1986. The original arcade version was the first arcade racer to allow players to choose their in-game music from a set of three.
One of those tracks was "Splash Wave". It wasn't my favorite of the three because of the way VGMs (video game music) were made at the time (nowhere near as sophisticated as they are now). This remixed rock version of "Splash Wave" was made for the release of Outrun 2 in 2003 and sounds a lot better than the original. Turn up the volume if you like guitar riffs.
No lyrics this time because the song doesn't have them. This isn't quite the full version, it's actually supposed to fade out at the end. But it's close enough for my purposes.
