Video Vault: Thurl Ravenscroft: You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
Right around this time every year, I have this little problem with a voice that's running through my head. It usually starts with: "Every Who down in Who-ville liked Christmas a lot, but the Grinch who lived just north of Who-ville, did not."
I guess it's safe to say that I'm a fan of the animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Doesn't hurt that Boris Karloff was THE perfect man to narrate it. I don't have the whole story stuck in my head, but I know enough of it by heart that it plays games with my head right around this time every year. And then the day after Christmas, as strangely as it comes, it goes away.
Below is a link to the trademark song from that animated special, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch", sung by Thurl Ravenscroft. For whatever reason, I find this song intoxicating in its own right, even if the lyrics border on gross at times.
Lyrics are not being included here as a matter of personal preference. While nothing ugly, this track is not recommended for those of you who don't have an occasional leaning towards the Grinch in you.
