very very very spiritually confused
I'm still struggling with my spirituality. I have all my life and I think about it every day. I'm obsessed with it. I can't accept Christianity because of the Hell aspect of it. I can't ascribe to a religion that is threat based. That confuses me.
I've studied Mormon, Jehovah's Witness, and Islam but those all seem insane to me. For a while I thought I was a Pantheist but after I learned more about them I discovered they are nut cases! I'm not Atheist, Agnostic or religious. What am I?

Christianity, at least not true Christianity is not threat based. It\'s about having a personal relationship with God, who is loving and wants all of us to be in heaven with Him. Hell was created for Satan and His followers, who chose to reject God and try to take over. God works in our lives to show us His love, but evil is in the world because of Satan and sin. You\'ll never find a religion that can deal with the evil in the world.
Religion is man\'s attempt to get to God. Even many so called Christian denominations have morfed themselves into an attempt to get to God. But no can ever be good enough to earn their way to God.
The one true God sent His Son Jesus to earth to pay the penalty for our sins and provide a way for us to be reconciled with God. Those who accept Christ receive salvation as a free gift. Spirituality is not about religion it\'\'s about relationship with the true God.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is Gods gift 9 not from works, so that no one can boast.
You\'re right. I\'ve had a change of heart since I wrote that message. I don\'t think that Christianity is threat based anymore. In my life I\'ve been exposed to people who preach Christianity the wrong way. When I was a child and another time when I was a teen I listened to people who used fear as a tool to convince people to become Christians.
I think back in the old days there was a lot of that kind of preaching in some church\'s. My grandmother was the first to teach me about the bible. She was born about 1905 and the way she was raised was that, if you sin, you\'re going to hell! I was terrified and this terror stuck with me throughout most of my life. It\'s not her fault though, that\'s what she was taught by her parents I suppose.
That\'s a great verse. I actually read that verse a couple of days ago and I understand now. The comment I posted in my journal was also posted to my Facebook page. Two people responded to it and told me pretty much the same thing you told me. It\'s very simple. Have faith in God and you will be in God\'s grace.
As far as Satan hell, demons, the Apocalypse, etc, that is all scary stuff that I used to feel so much anxiety about but now I\'m not worried about any of those things anymore b\'se I have faith in God. I don\'t understand those things and I don\'t think I need to. I\'ll just leave all of that up to God. I think I\'m on the right track and thankyou for your comments!
