Very sick so Goal missed!!!!!!!!!
Was going towards my holiday goal as positively as I could when on Sunday 3 May (due to leave on 5th) I had to visit the emergency doctor and was diagnosed with SHINGLES!!! and the doctor said I couldnt travel.
So instead of just being scared to go away by myself I am now living my worst nightmare - I am alone and sick. I was never seriously ill in all the years of my marriage and here I am on my own and really ill. So weak, so sore, so lonely and then this afternoon I get word from my cousin (my only relative in Ireland) that they are going back to Singapore for at least a year (for his work) leaving almost at once. It is like my last leg has just been knocked away and I have landed flat on my back.
I dont know where to turn.
My brothers are so far away.
My oldest and closest friend would come to me but it doesnt seem fair to cause her expense and time off work - she lives in UK.
My closest friend in Ireland cant come to me until I know I am clear because she suffers from Multiple Myleoma which gives her a low immune system and
my friend in New Zealand is currently under treatment for four sites of cancer and I would not for the world burden her with my troubles at this time. I will skype her as usual on Sunday night and try to be "OK".
I am going to Scotland in two weeks to help my brother with the last hurdle of his matrimonial problems and stay a few days with him - we can at least relate on the lonely factor.
I am sure I will get past this and I will book my holiday again, it is just I wonder how many times do we have to drag ourselves up just to be knocked down again?

Oh Fay, this is terrible! I had shingles once and it was so painful.
I hope you heal quickly.
And the bad news about your cousin.
Maybe it\'s time to have a little Spanish holiday at home. Go back to bed, put some Spanish music on, pour yourself a drink or cup of tea and read a trashy novel or magazine.
Perhaps we can pretend together - I need another holiday too. Now, what do you think of that woman over there by the swimming pool? Is she someone famous? Or just pretending to be? Where shall we have lunch - the beach or by the pool or maybe that nice little place in the old town?
Very gentle hugs. Sandy
Fay,
You will move forward from this, shingles. I know it is a really unpleasant, painful virus.
You have been going through this for 10 days, all by yourself, that makes me
upset for you. I wonder if you caught it on time to be able to take the course of medication, which can help lessen the outbreak. Can you arrange for a healthcare worker to come check on you?
Keep us all in the loop, to let us know if you are ok. I am sorry you have to go through this.......you will be fine, lots of rest and less stress.
Hugs....Sandra
I should have also said, it is horrible to be sick on your own with no support. When I got back from my holiday I immediately got sick and ended up in bed for a week. It was the first time I\'d been really sick since M died and I was just miserable and so sorry for myself (quite justifiably). Yet I know he had little patience for people who were ill, very much a \"soldier on\" man.
I\'m not sure why I\'m rambling, Fay. I just want you to know I do empathise and am really sorry you\'re ill.
Another hug, Sandy
Thank you all for ;;your kind and supportive comments. It has been nearly 6 weeks now and I am much better than I was - still taking the pain killers. It is too hot for me in Benidorm now so I will need to wait until September or October to try again. In the meantime I will continue with my shorter, nearer to home, trips and take it from there. Still feeling pretty down and lonely and am considering moving back to Scotland to be near my brothers but the thought of the work involved is frightening me!!! Will keep you posted. Luv to all xxxx
Fay, it\'s good to hear from you. I\'m all over the place with the committal hearing for the driver on Thursday and Friday. I\'ll write properly after that.
Hugs, Sandy
