Vaccine

When my parents said we were going to wait in line for leftover vaccines outside of a distribution center in LA, I didn't know we were going to be in a Black/Hispanic neighborhood. I'm fully aware of racial tensions, and by being there we are basically taking vaccines away from people who need them more.

I doubt we'll get any anyway. There must be over a hundred people in this line, and I read some articles saying they have anywhere between 7 or 30 vaccines left on any given day.

This was a stupid venture. Of course my parents would drag me on some stupid selfish journey. If they would wait another two months we'd probably all be vaccinated no matter what. So now I'm sitting in the sun as a woman walks past with a cart of tamales, faced with a line of ramshackle houses, thinking ahout my many privileges.
