Urologist Visit and Subsequent Biopsy done today
Just wanted to keep you all in the loop re my Urologist appointment today and subsequent biopsy.
It was a rude shock to the system to have to get up early and get organised for a 9.40am appointment, about 20 minutes drive away. However we did manage it. When the Urologist looked at the CT Scan he said he thought he’d have a biopsy done and then said, “If you go up to the Radiologist he’ll probably do it on the spot.”
So it’s done with no time to worry about it and I see the Urologist on Tuesday next, to get the Pathology results. At least then, I’ll know for sure. My doctor said he hates to take a kidney out, even part of one, if it doesn’t need to and explained that biopsies have improved out of sight in the last 12 months. He said, doing the biopsy like this, there was no chance of missing cancer cells or allowing them to escape.
I had a local anesthetic injected and once the area was numb, the radiologist used the CT scanner to view the kidney and guide a spring-loaded biopsy needle into the kidney. It did hurt a bit but wasn't too bad. He took five or six samples, each the size and shape of one-half inch of string. The doctor, who owns the huge Radiology Practice, did it himself which was good. He was a nice man. The pathologist was also there to take the slides back. It didn’t take all that long at all overall but I had to lie down for half an hour afterwards.
let you know what eventuates next Tuesday but I’m fine with all this. It’s been up in the air since January and none of the scans have been conclusive..
I didn’t particularly want to wait another week (which was the first appointment time I could book) so we waited today. I just wish I'd taken my book along today because I would have been able to read quite a few extra chapters.
Thanks to all of you who commented on my journal yesterday. It means so much to me that you all care.

Wow, you had a busy day, but I agree just get it done and over with as the waiting is pure torture.. prayers to you
It\'s good to be moving on this, so you know as quickly as possible. I\'ll be thinking about you,as you wait the week, hoping for the very best.
good on ya! Now is a good time to practice meditation, prayer, hot bath with book and glass of wine... anything that helps you not think about the results. My cancer more than doubled in size in the diagnosis period... I think cuz I was so stressed and concentrating on it. (had thyroid cancer) Glad to hear that biopsy not so painful... mine was excrutiating. no numbing stuff... square needle straight in my neck...blech!
Much prayers and love your way!
I know it will be hard to wait for the biopsy results. I continue to pray for a good report.
It sounds like you had a very packed day, I hope the biopsies give you some conclusive answers. You were much more brave then I would have been! Local anesethetic and big needles all while awake! no thanks!! I hope you\'re feeling good today :) Im a fan of taking a good book to wait, I took one to my colonoscopy while I was waiting to go in.
I\'ll be praying for you angel and a good report *big hugs and love*
xoxo
Good luck with results. Thinking of you. Wow - that other journal entry - all those hours in waiting rooms.... Hugs. Suzi
I hate the waiting game. it seems as no matter what you do your mind loops around some weird thought. I am glad they are finally checking it out . I imagine it would drive me crazy. :) I think its all going to come out fine ! Hope Tuesday comes fast. Gail

My prayers and love are with you hon, that it isn\'t what we all dreaded hearing, but i have a good feeling that it will be better news.. You have a good weekend and try not to think about Tuesday i love you girl..
Love,
Becca
Bury yourself in a good book to keep your mind off of it is the best advice I can think of- You probably already know that tho =) What are you reading now?
Thank you so much for your thoughts and support. This week of waiting has been a long one but tomorrow I shall know.
