Update on the last few days...
Well, I got the gardener to come back and finish, and he brought extra help. That usually is a good thing. This guy leaves his partner to clean the yard and goes somewhere else. Then he charges me for 2 people for the full day! He worked about an hour - tops. I need to mention that this person was highly recommended. I have learned in life that just because one person gets good service, it doesn't mean you will. Anyway, he kept mentioning how he wanted to be the one to continue to maintain my yard and he wants the job of painting my house when the time comes. When you have just ripped off someone, why do you think they will keep running back to you????? Here's the clincher- there is still stuff he didn't finish!
Yesterday at work, my throat started to hurt, but I passed it off as a virus going around. I picked up the kids from my parents, and then came home. By then, I was feverish, and needed to be in bed. My older daughter alternated between checking on me, and making sure her baby sister stayed out of trouble, at least until my husband came home. Since I said I was really cold, she went to our water cooler, and poured me a cup of warm water to help warm me up. She is so sweet.
I went to the doctor today, and he diagnosed it as a throat infection. I stayed home from work today. I will see how I feel tomorrow.
I hope all my friends here are staying healthy.

I do hope you are feeling better. Nothing new here. Warming up a little bit but then it will get cold again. Such is winter!!

OMG I think we hired the same gardener-only I did allow the gardener to paint my house. I kept telling everyone that I had hired Eldin Bernecky (Murphy Brown\'s painter). I have a a tiny 1 story cottage/ bungalow style house & paint time was just over 2 months. When you do paint make sure you get it in writing & get several bids. I should not have paid hourly. So sorry to barge into your journal but I just had to add my 2 cents after my experience.
Your older daughter is a real sweetie pie! So caring and loving! Rosa, I hope you get much better soon. As for that gardener, he must have a very low intelligence to think that you will keep hiring him! Sometimes people highly recommend someone, just to get rid of that person. Lol!

So sorry you are sick. I hope you get to feeling better. It terrible when others take advantage of you. I know how that feels. What sweet daughter you have to take care of you.
I hope you are beginning to feel better...sorry you are sick. How sweet of your daughter to help out caring for you and little sister. Glad you have a little helper while you are ill. Your gardener sounds like many service people. One day when he can no longer get business, I hope he will finally get it that he was unethical charging his customers. I\'ve learned after many years, to get quotes based on the job--not by the hour. Hope you have better luck in the future.

About the gardener, Stand up for yourself. Tell him you were not happy with the work he has already done. Tell him you will look elsewhere for the painting job. So many people lay a bluff at your door. Call his bluff. Sorry if this is a little harsh, but I hate seeing my friends being taken advantage of.
