Update # 2: No, I don't draw flies!

There are some things that just draw flies. Me ….. I don’t draw flies (I do bathe!). Y’all already know that I draw snakes (I don’t know why). But I’ve still got a little surprise for you if you haven’t guessed it already. I draw dogs, too.
I went for my usual walk on Sept. 25. Our dogs and I crossed paths with a young, boney, male, black and tan coon hound. The hound hadn’t been fixed and he took a shine to Lizzie and followed us home. The dog wasn’t wearing a collar, but I thought surely this hound belonged to someone and had just gotten lost while out hunting ---- typical of ‘coon hounds.
I called everyone I could think of to call. Four days passed and no luck. Our dogs couldn’t stand the black and tan. My husband said the dog had to go one way or another, either to the pound or with a bullet. I found out that one of my second cousins had a black and tan, so I called her. Her black and tan was not MIA ----  he is 17 years old and toothless. They are expecting him to pass away anytime, now. Her family has been looking for another black and tan, so her oldest son came and got the one I found.
Sunday, Oct. 12, I come home from church and there’s a Rottweiler in my front yard sitting on the bluff above the highway. He’s healthy, but injured. He’s limping on one front leg. He’s been well cared for, but no collar. I wonder if he managed to jump out of a passing truck??? Our dogs like him. Lizzie and Amos try to play with him, but he’s just to sore to play right now.
When I took our dogs for their walk last night, the Rottweiler followed us. Because of his limp, he fizzled out about halfway back. He kept lying down in the road, and I kept going back to him to coax him to come on and at least get out of the middle of the road. When I got back to our driveway, the Rot followed us on to the house. So, I fed him.
I slept really well last night, in spite of the fact that I can’t close the kitchen door. I had a rat terrier/lab mix sleeping in the bed with me, a Great Pyrenees sleeping in the hallway by the bedroom door, a pit bull/mutt mix sleeping at the outer edge of the carport, and a Rottweiler sleeping on a doggie bed at the outer entry to the kitchen. If someone had tried to enter the house, I wouldn’t have been able to shoot them. Even if I could have gotten a shot off between the dogs, I would have been laughing too hard to aim properly!
I’ve had three visitors so far today. Two of them refused to get out of their vehicles …….Snicker, snicker! The one visitor who did get out of the vehicle was my mother. When my mom came in the house the Rottweiler came in with her. When my mom left, I made the Rotty go back out. He sat at the door and let out long, mournful, bloodcurdling wails until I let him back inside. Sigh … what else can a girl to do, I ask you???
I emailed my husband about the Rot and sent him a photo of the dog. Tim emailed back, saying that the Rot is a pretty dog. He wanted to know if the Rot is fixed and if he is getting along with the other dogs. Hmmmmmm, is that a hint that just maybe if no one claims the Rot ………… ????
I like the Rottweiler. He’s a big kissy-face and he won’t let me out of his sight.
It’s stormy here today, so I’m having satellite problems, but I’ll see if I can get a photo or two of the Rot up.

It\'s good to see you again, Nancy. It sounds like you worked off some of your frustration by heavy duty cleaning. It must have felt good to get that done, even if it did wipe you out a few times. Sometimes it\'s worth it just to get something done. Happy to hear your daughter is doing better. I hope they can help your mom - she\'s had a rough few months. I think the dogs have sent out a message to all the strays in the area that your house is a nice, friendly place to land - LOL.
