understanding my experience

I  realized so much of the time I don’t understand the human condition

Nor my own, either. I deal with my anxiety over it by going inward.

But I realized something today with this newfound appreciation

of the human condition (s) - by finally examining that concept both focused on others

and myself. The realization helped me appreciate that we each have 'a way we would like things to be.'

I drove a nun to her appointment today. She really makes my car her living room

whenever I drive her. She brings like three bags filled with her crap - a water bottle -

her cane and a big pillow for her back. She adjusts the seat to sit way back

and she asks me to adjust the AC to her liking as well as gets very picky about

the music I play on the radio. Finally I had the sense of our experiences today

and when I turned on some music she didn't like and I said "this trip is not just about you"

"i want this music' - and she immediately backed down.

I guess I am just seeing this now. Things are good.

more and more i find myself convinced that understanding is overrated. my job is not to understand you/he/she/we/they/it/etcetera/etceteri. my job is to love you/he/she/we/they/it/etcetera/etceteri until you/he/she/we/they/it/etcetera/etceteri. understands itself.

and there blows that discordant brass blast from the beatles. all ya need is love, love. love is all you need.

Good job speaking up for yourself!, but I hope you weren’t playing Metallica.:) :)

I know it wasn’t a funny situation, but describing it as her living room and your imagery made me smile. You are such a good storyteller!

thanks arfie! thanks susan :)! I've noticed that she really 'works' any natural consideration I might have for being
accommodating or sensitive to her until I finally pushed back. She 'gets it' now :).
