Ugh

I’m finding it very hard to be an island today, but I know we all gotta deal with that sometimes. The ‘company culture’ here is getting to me. I need pleasures and agency and that’s all natural. For the people this place is totally gratifying for they seem like normal people but they’re on the edge and austerity is their energizing reinforcement I know we’re all struggling. I just wanted you to know that I am feeling down about my life but I’m sending good vibes your way because although we all have to be ‘islands’ to a certain extent, comradery is also inspiring.. thanks and peace

Sorry it's been a rough day, Mark. I tried to write a response twice but erased it and gave up.

Maybe your island could have a bridge to the mainland?

Sometimes the strongest thing a person can do is admit they are having a hard day. We all have seasons where we feel more alone than we would like, even when surrounded by people. Yet your post also reminded me that islands are still connected beneath the surface by the same earth. I can only imagine the sacrifices you have made in order to be a priest. Even when a calling is genuine, it does not mean every day feels easy or fulfilling. Sometimes the heart needs a reminder that struggle is not failure.

You have encouraged many people through your posts over the years, including me. So today I simply wanted to return a little of that encouragement.

I will pray tomorrow feels lighter than today for you. Until then, know that your honesty, your sincerity, and your willingness to keep walking the path matter more than you might realize....Hugs

speaking strictly for myself, first person singular, the effort to be an island was theraputed out of me way back in the last millennium. i am far happier without that impossible dream. i was 11 years old when this song was released and it remained my personal anthem for a decade or so before the shrinks got a hold on me.

as for austerity, i would if the big boss upstairs didn't have other plans. the happiest years of my life were spent living out of my back pack with a guitar and destination further. material wealth is more of a challenge than i care to invest my life in. yo. . . big boss. . . why don't you give all this fancy garbage to somebody who actually wants it?

sigh. . . i keep hearing she has her reasons.
